everyone saying Boyz in the Hood is the better film

"Ay homie u need some help" >>>>
I prefer the raw grittiness of Menace. Boyz N The Hood had better acting, i appreciated the message of the film and it's a classic but Menace was one of the first hood movies that actually really focused on the gangsters POV.
Menace almost felt like a documentary the chemistry on film form the cast was impeccable, they really seemed like they knew each other 10+ years.
When was the last time you've seen these movies?
Not in a while lol but my statement still stands because i felt the actors in bnth really played their roles (not to take anything from m2s) i.e Fishburne's speech, the black cop, Cuba crying to Nia long and them eventually making love just name a few.
Its crazy cause imo Boyz felt like they were acting but on the other hand Menace felt like a documentary, the chemistry on film form with the cast was impeccable.
Tbh i don't even wanna compare these movies because they're both classics.

Watch them again.
There's far more cringe-worthy acting in Boys than Menace
Like? Anyway i've these movies so many times but i probably will.
Cringe-worthy was an overstatement.
I decided to take my own advice and rewatch them. Scenes like the cop scene and when Cuba was swinging thereafter. Like I said, cringe-worthy was out-of-line. Kane's grandparents had the worse acted/written scenes of either movie ("Come down here and look at our grandson" / "Do you care if you live or die?"), so I can see why you'd say Boyz had better acting. Maybe it's the preachiness of Boyz that felt robotic at times, but I still think Menace was better overall.
It's funny, cuz both hadmoments at the end: This nikka Ricky telling Tre "Let's split up"
and this nikka Kane running towards the kid whilst they're shooting at him
Both are excellent films, and both have aged well (unlike New Jack City, imo)....think I might watch South Central too, while I'm on this tip.![]()

Don't know how y'all could say menace seemed more real, yea there are characters out there like that, but they're few and far between compared to the characters in boyz. Boyz more closely parallels the hood IMO, even with its preachiness. The only thing plaguing boyz at this point is knowing how corny Cuba Gooding is and seeing how his career played out, takes away a lot of credibility from him in that role. On the other hand, it's crazy how his brother went from hosting wild and crazy kids on Nickelodeon to beating nikkas with belts and blasting nikkas in baby boy
But yea, like someone else said, menace was a bit too cartoonish with the violence and basically put a battery in the back of many thugs in training.
