Doechii's album "ABNH" was what Hip Hop heads were waiting for but it went under the radar so now you can't complain about Sexyy Red and Ice Spice.

All I'm saying is that when those other 3 got that "push" like Doechii you heard their songs everywhere and they were charting...songs being used on Tik Toks. One would think with a dope Hip Hop album she'd be getting 10x the push and attention but that seems to not be the case.
Sounds like you just wanted her to follow the typical female rapper mold because that's palatable to you. A couple big hits your first few years, and then its nothing for most of them after that. I think Joe Budden said it best, the female rap wave is dying, if not already dead, but Doechii is actually breaking path that by establishing a solid career. I personally think she'll be OK, you're allowed to think otherwise, or to care about stuff like "tiktok hits" when someone is clearly trying to be a more serious artist than that

:patrice:

You not telling their stories correctly. Cardi B and Megan been dropping consistent hits since their breakthrough. Megan was the first to have a Hip Hop diss record to go #1 before Kendrick just this year in 2024.

Also...the average rapper gets a good 3 to 5 year run and Cardi and Megan have surpassed that, so those 2 would not fall in the category you are speaking of.

So it just seems like you're criticizing her for not making trendy music, but are also upset that artists like Ice Spice and Sexxyy Redd are at the forefront of female rap. :patrice:
Somehow you don't see the contradiction in that :patrice:

Like I said, TDE isn't trying to make a Cardi B out of Doechii

Yall praise these superficial ass artists for making billboard hot 100 music then get upset that that's become popularized. This is Lacking Self Awareness 101. These angry, forum-brained reasons why you think somebody isn't succeeding would sound ridiculous to people outside of the sphere of the internet.

No.

I literally say it in the thread title and you aren't paying attention. I'm praising her for making a dope Hip Hop album in the thread title, you just made up a lie about me criticizing her for making a dope Hip Hop album.

The thread title says it all. If a female rapper makes a dope hip hop album and it goes under the radar then don't complain about Ice Spice and Sexyy Red because you didn't give the dope female rapper the same energy to promote her like y'all give energy into hating on Sexyy Red and Ice Spice.

Missy and Lauryn Hill ran the game at point. Foxy Brown was side by side with Kim during their prime. Were you in a coma in the mid 90's and 2000's?

People talked about Missy's and Foxy's looks back then too even though Missy wasn't really trying to attract male hip hop fans like that. Missy wore a trash bag in her first video.

Lauryn wasn't going after male fans like that either because she didn't need to. She had cred because she was the best rapper and singer in the Fugees, a multi-platinum group.

Foxy was jumping on remixes to build hype, and then joined up with Jay to get her first hit.

True. Ice Spice is a plant. She sells sex and 12 year old vocabulary lyricism. Any hoe listening to that is mildly retarded af.

TDE always been more mature with how they initially marketed their artist. The mainstream won't gravitate to it at first.
neither are plants.

Oh TDE? Shes definitely a plant then. They have yet to put out a popular "organic" act. And maybe theres no such thing as a popular purely organic act, becauase you need a push to get to a certain level. But lets just say TDE artist seem to get alot more "forced momentum" than alot of artist who blow needed. This is what puts you in plant territory.
This is hate.

Doechii's vocals on her latest album "Alligator Bites Never Heal" are a mix of Lady Bug from Diggable Planets mixed with Jean Grae with a splash of Missy Elliot, Azealia Banks and Doja Cat. The beats on her latest album are a mix of early 90's mixed with this current era. She gave us personality, different styles, humor...The whole album was a throwback feel to how albums felt in the 90's yet this album went under the radar. Meanwhile, Sexyy Red saying she's at the gyno to find out why her snatch smells like the funk of 40, 000 years and Ice Spice freestyles go viral. We are in the era where people put more energy into hating on what they don't like over putting energy into supporting what is supposed to be quality music, all ass backwards.

Another example, Scarlip does a dope freestyle, it gets posted on The Coli, I'm the only one who responds in it to give props to her spitting bars but the thread is dead. Ice Spice does a freestyle and it's filled with haters giving it more energy than the better emcee Scarlip. I rest my case.

I saw certain people in the booth saying they disliked this project so I’m listening to it while I ride around with my kid. Like clockwork it’s actually dope so far. They wouldn’t know their own ass even if it was on one of those discarded on the sidewalk club flyers they depend on to have a life.

This is the type of time I hoped Nikki Minaj was gon be on after monster. Artistically Doechii is head and shoulders above all of her other lady rap contemporaries. I hope it eventually translates into sales. I don’t know if women consumers are going to support this, but I’m damn sure about to buy it digitally and try to grab a physical. I even like it more than rhapsody’s “please don’t cry”

One of the best rappers to be introduced to the mainstream. Very talented and versatile. She can sing, rap, perform, storyteller, boom bap, trap beats, can even do a pop track like “Slide”. There’s something about an artist who takes the genre and their art serious to the point it’s clear they’ve studied the greats and want to carry that torch.

She just isn't good enough. Mid artist.

:comeon:
She’s light years beyond all the mid bullshyt other lady artists are dropping. She isn’t just being pushed, she’s actually being celebrated out here. I use my dorky ass neice as a measure. If her and her friends are into it it’s an official movement lol
