Doechii's album "ABNH" was what Hip Hop heads were waiting for but it went under the radar so now you can't complain about Sexyy Red and Ice Spice.

Not just a “rapper”, but a avant garde artisè rapper with “substance” that we gotta pretend is a genius all of a sudden because the label decided to tweak the gimmick on some WWE shyt to pander to rap smarks that fall for that shyt :mjlol:

This is what we’ve been waiting for

There is something that will hold her back, and its the fact that she is not "conveniently" attractive. I think she's a bad chick, but ive heard from women that she was ugly.

She's cuter than Missy and has a better body than Missy and we all saw how big Missy was in the 2000's.

Sexyy Red looks like Young Thug and she's been hot for a minute.

what is op expecting for non commercial rap acts like Rhap and Doechii to do after dropping critically acclaimed projects? She ran the circuit well, hit all the big platforms and did interviews and performances on huge networks. She's still in her rookie year man

Yep she was a failed r&b artist who rebranded as a "rapper". I remember her getting a huge push as an rnb artist but her album flopped to hell.

So her career tried to go in one direction and then she was able to recalibrate and find success on another avenue? That's nothing new. That's been the music industry for decades.

Didn't Ice Spice blow up Rookie year?

Didn't Cardi B's first album shut down the game?

Didn't Megan Thee Stallions first album catapulted her into super stardom?

You seriously want me to ignore all of these major pushes that just happened to female rappers not too long ago when comparing them to Doecii.

Cardi B's career is in limbo rn, scared to even drop another album in fear of flopping. Ice Spice is moving under 30k units fw, with her hype dwindling by the day (she got a fukking Taylor Swift cosign for christ sake). Meg wasn't a grammy nominated artist with her very first project. You're losing me with what any of what you posted is supposed to mean? I don't think TDE is trying to replicate any of that with Doechii.

All I'm saying is that when those other 3 got that "push" like Doechii you heard their songs everywhere and they were charting...songs being used on Tik Toks. One would think with a dope Hip Hop album she'd be getting 10x the push and attention but that seems to not be the case.

I don't personally see the hype but I don't get the pseudo-A&R obsession of "b bu but she's a plant, she was doing XYZ before...."

Cool. Do you like her music, or not? Because that's all that matters, and it's not going to be hinged on how she got into the music industry.
