Two different points. I think your second point is true, but artists with large groups of writers and producers all the time. It can be to chase hits, but it can also be done to make sure the artists fulfills their vision.

You don’t bring in the amount of writers, producers, work at the hit factory and use the amount of samples she used to not recoup. It just doesn’t make sense.

Thats one reason why I think she didn’t release another one: too many people felt wrong when she didn’t give them credit

i missed this crazy story. not sure when this news about lauryn hill dropped but since about 2016 i haven't been able to keep up with hip-hop as close as i used to. my kids and work get most of my attention now.

the miseducation of LH album was amazing and still sounds amazing. i will give her a pass because a lot of people have ghostwriters and drop duds.

The problem is male hip-hop nerds aren't supposed to like this album. I'm just going to chalk this up to the Kendrick/TDE stimulus. I honestly can see no other reason why this album connects with The Booth otherwise. She's more like the female Logic than the female Kendrick.But less talented than Logic who the booth doesn't love last I remember.

I said earlier in this thread I understand why teenage black and white girls might like this album. It's these Booth nikkas I can't quite put my finger on.

Oh okay,well OP is correct. She was poorly marketed,because rnb singer is the only way she came across my feed,and others said the same. So at least she is authentically mediocre although versatile. Her ceiling will be Missy which isn't a bad ceiling. But all this emcee talk has to stop. She's not getting on a song with real rappers and stealing the show like Nicki has. And while you can say Kendrick doesn't have "bars" per se. He's very very elite at what he does

Dont ever insult Missy like that again. Missy is among the top selling female hip hop artist of all time. 40 million plus records sold. This Doechi chick hasnt even gone gold yet even with all this publicity.
