Doechii's album "ABNH" was what Hip Hop heads were waiting for but it went under the radar so now you can't complain about Sexyy Red and Ice Spice.

Sexyy Red was very organic. She’s basically a less skilled present day La Chat/Gangsta Boo and a lot of women find that relatable, and men aren’t embarrassed to listen to her cause she gets production the men traditionally get. She raps over stuff that would easily fit Gucci Mane or Chief Keef. The opposite end of the spectrum would be Saweetie. Dudes will only watch her videos on mute. Her beats are ass and has no general appeal other than being attractive.

Without a major hit. It's impossible to do that unless you have a project that people fukk with and keep bumping/discovering/etc. You wanna be mad at something, be mad at the labels that have decided rap must be microwave food that doesn't have an opportunity to do this. I'm not even a fan of hers lol. I just find this to be an impressive rollout that needs to be replicated if we're going to have new, big artists with sustainable careers going forward.

Okay,so I was right to not know she rapped. Ive definitely seen her sing,and seen her twerk. Never a highlight of her bars.

Rappers who are trying to be nice but aint,offend me worse than rappers that cant rap and aint trying. Because if you really are trying,you would hear yourself, Realize you arent that nice,and keep working at it. Rather than rushing mediocre bars on us and expexting to be exhaulted because your "technically" nicer than people who arent even trying. But really id rather listen to some of them,because at least they say interesting or humorous bars at times.

People coming in this thread just yesterday talking about they aren't familiar with her music confirms my initial point in the thread title. Also it was 100K after 4 months not 100K the first week like someone who is actually popular like that. At this pace it'll be 300K in 1 year. Not even gold.

Rap fans are hilarious now lol. My question is how can you tell who’s popular now? Like again, I don’t know much about Doechii but I’ve heard her name before and have seen her a lot recently. I checked out her album and i actually like it. It’s funny how people will tell you this era is better because we aren’t force fed artists anymore but then will force feed artists to say they’re better than Doechii. Meh and Glo are better, blah blah. Them TDE connects are only helping her win and I think she’s going to be ok. I mean rappers don’t even get a lot of time in the spotlight these days anyway so
