Doechii's album "ABNH" was what Hip Hop heads were waiting for but it went under the radar so now you can't complain about Sexyy Red and Ice Spice.

I need to listen.

I'd love to have a run of about 2-3 dope female rappers who aren't rappin about sex only.

You’re not lying

Every top white pop artist has came out to give her the co-sign

She’s gonna blow sooner or later. I still don’t know who her target audience is though

She’s not going to blow up making music that male hiphop nerds praise

No Lauryn hill didn’t do this

Lauryn hill made very appeal mainstream music
i don't think lauryn hill was chasing a hit tho. she made music that was natural to her and they became hits. she didn't chase a sound or whatever was trendy. i get the same vibe with doechii. she's making music she wants and they connect with people.

Doechii is being praised by rap nerds for her bars

That’s a huge red flag

I also think artist with this type of inorganic push usually end up being rejected by the culture. Look at HER

Giving the amount of musicians who help write and produce that album I do not believe this

No one was going to Commissioner Gordon in 1998 to get hits. If she was she would've hired RZA when she had the chance. There's nothing on that album to indicate she was chasing hits.

No one works with the amount of writers and producers she did on that album and not chase a hit.

Thats one reason why I think she didn’t release another one: too many people felt wrong when she didn’t give them credit

Two different points. I think your second point is true, but artists with large groups of writers and producers all the time. It can be to chase hits, but it can also be done to make sure the artists fulfills their vision.
