this move will probably pave the way for Josh Hamilton to head to the yanks. LA was favoured to sign him but now with this deal doesn't seem realistic. swisher probably gona leave for him wanted 100M LOL.

Rival execs are wondering why LADs didn't simply say to BOS: We'll take your bad contracts, but we're not giving you any prospects of note.
honestly i'm wondering the same damn thing. dodgers shouldn't have given any prospects.

There's pretty much no chance Loney is the Sox starting first baseman next season right? that guy has gotta be the worst first baseman who has gotten the most playing time in the past 5 years.

Red Sox got rid of 260 million in future salaries and got 2 of the dodgers top 15 prospects including their #2 pitching prospect allen webster.

It's a win for both teams.Crazy blockbuster trade

He's a free agent, I doubt it.

It's a win if the Dodgers win the World Series this year. Otherwise, they won't be able to sign anyone but marginal players. Unless they want to pay tax out the ass.

:rudy:

This isnt the nba,They can sign whoever they want and if they keep their payroll under 178 million(goes up to 189 million in 2014) they wont have to pay any competitive balance tax

I don't understand da purpose of having a trading deadline
if u can make this blockbuster deal a month after :smh:

The non waiver deadline was july 31st.which means you can trade whoever to wherever

This was a waiver claim that both teams worked into a trade meaning the red sox put beckett and gonzalez on waivers the dodgers claimed them(other teams could of claimed them but because of their salaries or not wanting/needing them they didn't).The dodgers and red sox then worked out a trade.

Until august 31st any team can put a player on waivers and let them go for nothing, work out a trade or keep that player
