The showrunner has been promising in interviews that the show is going to get darker to reflect the Doctor's personality so hopefully he wasn't just blowing smoke.

The Doctor may just finish off the daleks this time instead of letting them go to learn a lesson like he's done in t he past
I liked the premiere. He kept saying all of it seemed familiar... does anyone know if there was a similar body harvesting plot at a previous time in the series?
It would be nice if the Doctor visited places and characters from previous eras in order to "fix" some of the bad things he's done. Would love to see a return to some of the worlds and races from the Fourth Doctor era.

Reminded me of when Tennant took over and had to prove to Rose he was the same but different. Capaldi will find his groove, but with a new set of regenerations they could choose to not have him be around long like the 6th.

The callback was to the episode "The Girl In The Fireplace" from David Tennant's first season.
A bunch of clockwork robots were stalking the Madame de Pompadour (Sophia Myles
) throughout her life to harvest her brain for their spaceship.

I want a spin-off for them.. Its crazy that there are no Who spin-offs any more.
Before my time as a Who fan but I'm surprised Torchwood didn't last longer. Doctor Who has gone from a cult thing to mainstream. They made the cover of Entertainment Weekly in America. You'd think there'd be some rumblings of a new spin-off.

I just now got to the part with the 9th Doctor where Jack comes aboard. I'm not too familiar with the modern era but I've seen episodes from all of the modern Doctors. I've seen all of the Fourth and Fifth Doctor and most of the Sixth.
I don't care for Rose. She's a hood rat to me. Can't wait to get into the Amy episodes.
