Extermination season has begun!
My grand dad watched Doctor Who, my pops watched, my son watches, his son Probally will also.DR Who is Star Trek to us.
Doctor Who is my main Sci Fi show, Star Wars and Star Trek are secondary to me.
Dr. Who IMO is an example of an incredibly successful sci-fi franchise that puts most American efforts to shame. Honestly, I wish some of our black television and film producers like a 50 Cent or even a Tyler Perry would produce something similar with a primarily black cast. Sure it might not be an immediate big money maker but there is something to be said for the slow dough that comes from developing a cult following.

It's in black and white and all of the effects aren't final but it was a decent watch.
Got hope for Capaldi in the role after watching the episode but the initial intro of him was rough.

Just downloaded the S8ep1 screener, and after 20secs I turned it off..........I just can't bring myself to watch something thats incomplete, guess I'm waiting till the end of August to see the new Doc.
I noticed that, too.No fade out/fade in. The new rules, I guess?
I thought this was because he had already used most of the regeneration goo the Timelords gave him. He started regenerating as soon as he went ham on the Daleks, for some reason he was just able to delay it and say goodbye to Clara.

Yeah start with 9 and work your way up to the current stuff and if you like that then you can go back to the old school Who if you are so inclined.

yesterday was a marathon with the last guy. I liked him better
Those post regeneration episodes are never a good barometer because the actor is not being his version of The Doctor. Its all confusion and sleeping for the majority of the episode.
I have faith that Capaldi can be good but its going to take episodes 2 and 3 before I can really render ajudgment on him.
Agreed but I want him to go really dark this time, the last two doctors were good but was usually jolly. Hopefully that they shown the darkness of the War Doctor they carry some of thst over to Capaldi
