yeah my breading tasted like newspaper and my chicken was dry,,,,,, I had chicken strips,, so im sure they didn't have enough fat to make them juicy.......

This worked when I used it,,,,,,, just gotta master the flour breading

progresso-bread-crumbs-italian-style.jpg

I can see how that would work. But personally I wouldnt use bread crumbs. But then again ive fried lots of chicken in a quest to be able to make the best chicken and ive found breadcrumbs makes good white people fried chicken, but it aint like the colonel (kfc) or anybody elses. As far as breading people have used cornflakes, lays chips, cheese its, flamin hot cheetos.

For my fried chicken I generally just hit it with buttermilk then put it in my seasoned flour. If im frying chicken for general tso (which im thinking about making tonight) I directly season just the chicken then i put it in a mixture of seasoned flour.

As far as seasoning goes, you can season however you want, just use flour. I add salt, pepper, and whatever else I want to it. Cayenne pepper, garlic, onion, paprika...theres no right or wrong way to do it its whatever flavors you like. Ive done flour with lemon pepper and had lemon pepper air fried chicken.

My best advice is to go homemade. I wouldnt buy premade seasoned flour, or pre made chicken breading mix (shake and bake and shyt). There stuff is either too coarse or too fine. Ive tried them. Just use flour, and your seasonings from your shelf. Theres no right or wrong way to do it, just dont over do it, I put a half tbsp of cayenne in my mix and it was :fire:. If I want something simple I'll just do salt, pepper. But KFC uses like 11 herbs and spices and shyt so you have plenty of room to explore and get what you want in your chicken.

Got a Ninja Foodi for Christmas (basically a combo instant pot/air fryer). shyt is life changing. I made some wings, and looked at the pot after I fried them up at hit the :picard: at all the fat that had drained off. I'm pretty sure my arteries are already happy with my decision.

My cousin got me and the wife this air fryer this past weekend:

Gonna try it tonight with some cod.

You'll be fine with this one. This is the one we have at work. Let me know if this thing puts out extra heat in your house, cause at work when we turn this thing on it gets whole office hot. Not like an electrical malfunction but like if you lived in a crack house, you could keep the heat off, and turn this bytch on and cook some fries and be nice and toasty in the living room. All of us at work have one at home and we're like ":patrice: our kitchens dont get this warm"

Yeah this is an amazing product. Bought one months ago and never bothered with it. Now I actively eat food that can go in the air fryer. The taste is ridiculous. I'm convinced that there is something involved in the process that will end up killing us all eventually.

It put out extra heat but not too much. The cod came out great. Next time I’m going to try some burgers or some steaks.

How did you prepare the cod? Was it pre-battered/breaded?

The cod was frozen so I thawed it out. Then I battered them in egg then in some breadcrumbs. After that, I preheated the fry basket for a few minutes. After that I sprayed a little oil in the basket, put the fish in and sprayed a little oil on top of the fish. I air fried them at 400 degrees for about 12 minutes.

About to use mine for the first time tonight and will be cooking snapper on it. Won't use egg but I'll use that good Louisiana fish fry to coat it along with some cooking spray.
