I guess I'm young and naive but I really want to believe in marriage I grew up with friends who had parents who were divorced my parents who were on the brink of divorce who nvr got along growing up... So I'll be frank I didn't have positive role models... I would really like to believe in marriage so I'm going to cling onto that...

Yes, I do. Like any relationship, it requires work, but the bond that I have with my husband is one that I have with very few people. He tap dances on my last nerve about a good 43.6% of the time, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

We in it to win it LOL
Idk why but its so cool hearing a lady on the forum say "my husband" :wow:

I believe in marriage. I'd love to be married one day, I think it takes a certain discipline to be married though. I also like the benefits that come with marriage too.

1. Divorce isn't rising, especially if you are middle class and education.
2. Marriage rate have been on the incline for the past several years.

Nothing in life comes without potential consequences.

Less people are getting married from the data I have seen that's the only reason the divorce rate is no longer rising.

The idea that marriage takes with is misnomer

If the person you are married to does not make your life easier than you are in the wrong situation

I really don't know. Right now I'm really not concerned about marriage because I'm only 21, maybe I might have an opinion on it in 5 yrs time.

"About 70 percent of marriages that began in the 1990s reached their 15th anniversary (excluding those in which a spouse died), up from about 65 percent of those that began in the 1970s and 1980s. Those who married in the 2000s are so far divorcing at even lower rates. If current trends continue, nearly two-thirds of marriages will never involve a divorce, according to data from Justin Wolfers, a University of Michigan economist (who also contributes to The Upshot)."

the divorce rate falling is a myth http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/02/u...ver-but-the-myth-lives-on.html?abt=0002&abg=1

I kinda feel like this is somewhat proving my point but I might be misunderstanding you.

Never mind misread you. The divorce rating isn't falling because less people are getting married, its because people don't have the economic freedom that baby boomers had to divorce and still have mobility. People are also getting married later when they are significantly more mature to handle such a union.

I'm all for marriage and look forward to being married myself one day.

I think the problem is that we been too delusional when it comes to marriage, especially us women.

Being a parent is hard work. Becoming a surgeon is hard work. Lots of things require hard work. Why is it that the idea of something being hard work turns people off? A lot of people are just pussies. Sorry to say. The quality of your marriage is directly related to your character not how hard you're willing to work. None of y'all are able to admit you don't have the character for marriage.
