Yes. Gen Z is making more money than ever on the things like social media, the internet, etc. My son is 22, if something does not make him happy, or brings him joy, he'll walk away from it, and it's not always about money.

Except that's not what I said. ^^^ If you need to lie to make an argument it's probably not a good one.

I understand you WANT this to mean that you are more valued as an employee. And that might be true. But I was specifically addressing the long term implications of the mindset based upon my real life observations and experiences. Not everyone gets their information second hand.

Time will tell. I'm good either way.
And like I said, you're first hand experience isn't that important or valuable in the grand scheme of things. :yeshrug: We're talking macro view here.

I'm glad you keep mentioning how good you are instead of keeping the conversation on the people who aren't doing well in this society, but that mentality is consistent with your stance on this issue so thanks.:smugbiden:

I think it's because they're not invested in the same shyt as older generations. Too expensive to own a house or support a family, equivalent sports cars are untouchable, so why worry about making $X/year when I can be happy in a 2 bedroom apartment and Netflix?
But the thing is that they're still unhappy in that 2 bedroom with Netflix. Because they still believe they deserve that nice sports car and that 500k+ house. They just don't wanna put the work in to make it happen. Now it's other people fault that they don't have it and the situation they're in instead of just looking in the mirror at the culprit.

My nephew is the same age and taking in the dough with his marketing business.

Just bought a house in Vegas. :martin:

I'm happy for him. He saw the loop hike and went right for it

Why is profit necessary and why is it that basic needs like food and shelter are only (barely) given when you are a cog in the wheel of the workforce?

Because food and shelter costs time to create. If I am going to use my limited time on earth creating these things then I want maximum return for my time. Why should others create tangible benefits for the masses while you live the life of a libertine?

Pros:
There are more ways to make money than ever before. It's not gatekeept through companies as much as it used to.
Gen Z been taught by Gen X and Millenials to be masters of their own destiny, they also been shown that college may not be a smart investment for everyone.
The internet is the great equalizer. Stay up on trends and you can always make money. Perhaps not RICH but you can make money.

Cons:
The 9 to 5 life has balance. Once you clock out, your time is YOURS. Its not the same for influencers. Work literally IS your life.
None of these people own the platforms they make money on. At any moment, your income can go from 200k to 50k based on a change in back end algorithm, ads rules, new TOS, or being deplatformed. There's less flux in the traditional work world.
Para-social relationships are HORRIFIC.

But a big thing people need to realize is that Gen Z and many others also fake the funk. There's TONS of influencers/streamers/micro-celebs that are living with 3-4 other people or some are still living with family. Almost on one is at the Jake/Logan Paul level. People chasing illusions in many instances.

Very true, but the con is really losing their platform, but then again there will be another better platform. They are doing something they love, so it doesn't feel like work vs the 9 to 5 job.

You got some of them fake. But it's not like 1 or 2 out of thousands making bread like some of the older bitter millennials are making it seem.

No I mean being told to be on time or being corrected when they make a mistakes. Had people quit for both reasons.

:mjlol:

Yes people quit for the lightest shyt. I don’t think that ya'll really understand how advocating for 'not giving a shyt' is affecting this generation. It's not what you think it is. Ya'll only wanna think about it idealistically but aren't considering real life applications.
This is what I was hinting at when asking why people are quitting. I’ve dealt with this with my daughters in school and work. They would throw a huge fit about being mistreated. When I’d ask how and it would be some bullshyt like “my manager got on my case about standing around talking with my friends. Who are they to criticize me like that?” I told them thats what a manager is supposed to do. And as long as they aren’t screaming on them or cussing them out then a manager is supposed to get on their ass when they are bullshytting around like that. I feel old saying it but this may be a result of participation trophy culture where kids weren’t coached up and patted on the back for everything they do. Now they can’t handle legit criticism.

Not everybody’s complaints about mistreatment are valid.

Again not a boomer. Why do ya'll keep falling on that?

And it's not hate. I literally went from entry level to OM in 8 months because of the culture ya'll promote. My job security is 100% because the rest of ya'll would cry and quit as soon as it rained too hard or you had to stay 15 minutes later.

:mjlol:

The shyt benefits me amazingly. I work 5 to 6 hours a day and I still look like the hardest work employee. If anything ya'll are making it easier for people who want to work.

However I manage these people. And it's nice it works for you but I actually talk to these people and know how their life is going. It's not theory. Just making an observation.
You might not be a boomer but you have indoctrinated their ideology. :francis:

We talking about all these ways kids have to make money but honestly speaking what percentage of kids are making money like that outside of typical jobs. It’s a really small percentage imo. I mean yeah they can drive Uber or Instacart but those jobs have no long term growth or will ever grow to anything so it’s really a case of spinning wheels in place and wasting time instead of growing towards something better.
