Do you agree with Gen-Z being so quick to quit jobs they hate

I don’t know where this mythology comes from that Boomers and Gen X were “hard workers”. Boomers were literally Hippies. They were the original antiwork smoke weed all day and don’t do shyt movement. But people fail to make the connection that Hippies and Yuppies were the same people because college graduate cacs could actually come out of school to well paying jobs 95% of the time unlike any college graduate after 2001 and obviously 2007-2009. And Gen X were the slacker generation for God’s sake.:gucci: Doing the absolute minimal to get by. And many Gen X in the black community sold crack instead of working because it was much more profitable. I’m an older millennial but I couldn’t play outside that much as a kid in the late 80’s and early 90’s because I lived in the hood where all the Gen X cats were slanging yola and shooting at each other. Today, many of the old hood dudes and women somehow managed to get good government jobs with platinum pay and benefits. Even some old school crackheads who got clean got good gov’t jobs.

The truth is that Boomers and Gen X just benefited from more prosperous economic times. Y’all had recessions and hard times that weren’t experienced evenly depending on your circumstances, but your boom times were legendary (i.e. the tech boom). It doesn’t make sense to go to college anymore. College is basically a casino where you are betting $100k+ that you will be able to find a good job afterwards graduation using an outdated measure of credentialism. :aicmon:And you can’t discharge student loan debt with bankruptcy. Even these trade apprenticeships expect you to buy your own damn whole ass work truck with your own money on an apprenticeship wage that is only like $18 an hour. :dahell:

The kids are thinking outside the box and that’s a good thing. America is a sinking ship because we are run by mega corporations that don’t give a damn about us. :mindblown:Globalization also implies importing third world poverty. :picard:

They are crippling their development and I am worried for them.

It is not as though they are far removed from a generation with a different pattern of behavior. There's what, 10 years separating Millennials from generation Z.

Effectively they are not needed. What will matter is how the next wave of new adults behave, which will probably change when they see the results of people in their 30s to 40s who thoughtside hustles would be enough.

This is a bit of a what came first, the chicken or egg type situation.

Inflation in salary had not matched the inflation in the cost of living. As a result, the younger generation cannot afford to buy homes and are putting off having children.

You cannot blame them for not taking on more responsibilities than they can handle. If employers want things to change, they should start paying their employees a salary that encourages long term planning.

Read my latter response which acknowledges this.

:mjlol:I dont blame them.

Why work you're ass off just to stay poor or barely get buy ? These Jobs dont pay a livable wage and salaries haven't been consistent with the cost of living for the last 30 years .

Might as well be unemployed or find a hustle. And I'm saying this as a younger gen xr

People forget that the baby boomers are the OG slackers and were handed them the world by the Silent Generation. They had a peak economy, low cost of living, GREAT environment that Climate Change was non existent, and GOAT experiences in the arts (music, movies). In just 5 decades, they fukked all of tthat up by their kids and grandkids running amok with cultural dysfunctions.

Gen X was the gen was was super focused on the crack trade and stunting . They were the original clout demons that used hyper aggression on getting superficial desires and none on community building. They could have been college grads and working in the great 90s economy, but a lot of them were caught up on nonsense and became the gen that dropped outta college in mass. You know how many Philosophy majors ended up with 60k and above jobs back then? In the 90s cost of living? :why:

Gen Y never really stood a chance and went through 10+ years of Hell after graduating college in the post 2008 world, where low wages were the norm. Glad to see Gen Z straight up changing the game before they hit 25.

You aint retiring off uber, youtube or door dash either. Folks actually gonna be in a worse position and wish they had a simple 9 to 5 B.S, office job when they get older. At least those corporate folks might have a 401k or something.

A lot of 20 somethings doing Uber and Door Dash in high rates. They also freelance in other jobs at high rates, as well sell things online. They are at least a few steps ahead of everyone else on how to monetize their working efforts by not going to a scumbag boss.

uber and DoorDash are odd jobs and they aren’t making real money from the other things you mentioned. Better off learning a trade if that’s the case but deep down you know these kids are quitting their jobs to be content creators
