Do we really need 4 Avatar movies?

It honestly astounds me how quickly this movie faded in our collective memory. For about a year or so there, it was huge. It made a ridiculous amount of money, ushered in a new 3D craze, had all kinds of TV parodies, and then you heard stories about people killing themselves because Pandora wasn't real or whatever. And then, after that brief craze faded... nothing. You really don't hear about Avatar anymore.

I have no interest in sequels to Avatar, because I wasn't a fan of the first movie, but I will say this: it would be nice to have a successful original sci-fi/fantasy film franchise. Not another comic book superhero or other established IPs. And if nothing else, Pandora seems like it would be a good setting to have all kinds of different stories.

Outside of the first sequel the rest of those films might not happen

It all depends on box office performance

I'd honestly rather have a sequel to Alita Battle Angel, Avatar really doesn't need one since it was essentially Pocahontas with CGI and The Matrix elements sprinkled in

They're working on these films concurrently, so I can't see any of them being shelved. Cameron has put billions into this.

It's nuts, not only will there be a much smaller fraction of movie theaters open at any point in the 20s to see 'spectacle' films like this, but also because Avatar had zero staying power in the public consciousness. It's not like Star Wars where you can take 20 years off and people still give a shyt.

Not only that I am not sure how the white man saves the natives will play out again with this movie 2 decades later.

Unless they gonna keep the actor as an avatar the entire movie.

Plus with all these comic book movies killing everything sci fi out there. I am not sure there is room for avatar.

Could be my own bias but I thought the movie was trash. Outside of the weapons the military used and the special effects.

This. I know it won't happen at least not for a while but I would like to see the superhero movie bubble pop and let it transition to TV. (I know it already has but you get my drift)
