I wish there was an alternative to capitalism but the other experiments have failed.
$500 increase in rent is wicked as fukk
we need something in place to keep the rent in certain areas within an acceptable range. It's an extremely unpopular proposal...for now.

A lot of inflation concerns are because of what people are paying to live where they live. Price of eggs came down but your rent went up $200. So you aren't feeling it.

Yeah I have noticed that there is a culture of I struggled so you must struggle too, and what you have to go through isn't as bad as what I went through (often times this is cap of the highest order) so shut up.

There is no real empathy to speak of or a sense of pushing to make things easier for the next generation, it's always just presumed the next generation magically has it easier even though you have done next to nothing to make it that way. That's why things are getting progressively worse in this country instead of progressively better.

yeah this kind of thinking can nullify or justify anything. it's good to have perspective, but so much of that convo is not abiut about gaining perspective so much as eliminating it.

This country is cooked. We got a cacette who's trying to make it by, and other cacs are clowning her for complaining about how our can system work against those making an honest living. If she opened an OF or turned sugar baby, they'd call her a whore.

The only way to win in this country is to be lucky or learn to grift. Its completely unsustainable.
I always say the state of Midwest towns and the opioid epidemic shows this country cares about nothing but green. Black people have nothing more to give so they will come for every other group next.

That's basic living.

A basic apartment, at least where I'm from.

Only places around here that don't have them are the projects or a building that's too old to accommodate the hookup / space.

There's nothing luxurious about what's seen in her apt.

:stopitslime:

I can tell you’ve never been poor. Try fighting over a washer at the laundromat.

People lived with others for longer than we’ve had this notion of being entitled to afford to live alone. That’s one complaint I cannot get with - live at home (and contribute), get roommates, get a partner, rent in your price range instead of trying to stunt, etc. prices have gotten out of hand for a lot of stuff but housing was never configured for people to live alone. That’s some modern day misguidance
That's the only solution I see. Either suck it up and get some roommates or just get in a relationship with a man. 2 incomes will always be better than one then you can stack your bread up and plan your next moves. But people are too prideful and don't want to feel like they're settling so they'd rather do it alone and sit and cry to the Internet About it

i mean, most of the world and even the earlier days of the US whole families lived in the equivalent of a studio or 1bd, so…. :manny:

again, it wasn’t until recently we decided every person needed at least 600 sq ft and a bedroom to themselves

Having a washer and a dryer in your home is a luxury breh. Not sure how you argue against that.

That's cool...is it twenty-twenty-fukking-four, or is it "the early days of the U.S.?"

America is the richest country in the world...but it's perfectly fine that people are having to resort to sharing a 2 bedroom apartment well into their early-30s just to survive?

By that logic, people should be a-ok with sharing a 2 bedroom house with 2 other people. Damn the inflation or the ever-increasing rent prices that just spontaneously increase for next to no reason! Just grab an extra roommate! This 1 bedroom apartment wasn't meant for ONLY 1 person to live in!

European countries are more well off than us and they live in smaller quarters than we do. Americans lived in smaller places too until the post WWII boom that brought urban sprawl, so yes, this is very new where people demand a room for every kid and an apartment to every person.

And plenty of people have more than one person living in a one bd apartment. You feel entitled to more, that’s a perfectly fine stance, reality is we’re not getting more at affordable prices so people need to humble themselves and be creative about solutions.
