Iger is open to selling ABC and their other networks except ESPN where they'd like to possibly "partner" with someone. Also, the stock just cratered even more. Down to $85/share today.

I don't think the plan is bad, I think the execution is poor. Disney+ wasn't ready to launch an app. They rushed it. The classic content and The Mandalorian sparked all that initial interest and then people was like "we getting Marvel too" so it kinda made sense but they didn't have the content ready to go and again they never diversified their portfolio. There's a lot of people who want Disney content but don't fukking care about Marvel/Star Wars.

HBO Max had the best chance of succeeding (and still does) because they already had a lot of different types of shows coming out and in the pipeline, something for everyone. Plus, they had their archieved classics. Plus, they have a 100 years worth of movies on there from all genres. Plus, they were already streaming shyt live on HBO Go.

But all the fukkery with AT&T and then another merger stunted the growth. I think they can still get there (and they claim they are profitable now) but it will take time.

The other services don't seem to have as deep of a library.
Which is why they should have just asked Netflix for profits. If you want to have a streaming service, you need either a large library or you are producing original content. Netflix is getting away with this because of reality TV and international content but some of these other services don't have the money or the library for that.

Also, Disney is just pulling stuff off of the service after less than 2 years, what's up with that?

HBO has a big library but so does Disney even without the new shows. The problem is that Disney Plus didn't pay off like they wanted too even with the Fox merger.

They are doing the same thing HBO was doing. It's just underreported. They pull things that aren't getting that many views off the service to avoid payouts. It's about saving money.

There was a long thread on HBO doing this and people were all upset about it but when Disney does it, I haven't seen or read much on here about it. :manny:

What are the odds of Fox buying 20th Century back for way less than they sold it for
zero, give Fox credit for forcasting this 3 or 4 years ago
They good with the NFL, WWE, the Simpsons/Family Guy cartoon block and reality shows.
I think they got 2 dramas and 2 comedies on the schedule next fall.
They even canceled #1 show 911 because it cost too much to produce.

They own 90 percent of the content!! They need to admit some of their stuff is just not popular.

They own the content but I believe they have to pay residuals even if it's just sitting there collecting dust and I'm sure every show has specific language to what they actually have to pay the creators/showrunners/producers and actors for it just sitting there.

Marvel was almost bankrupt when they were "free"

I know that. There's been mutual benefit for sure but unless Disney is going to move into making more adult content, Marvel is going to be handicapped.

Chapek seemed like a dikkhead but he understood that and was willing to flow with it if it was going to make money. Iger doesn't like that idea at all it seems.

I only signed up for Disney + for the MCU. I've been enjoying the shows on average more than the movies but now they're going to pull back on those on top of refusing to expand the umbrella beyond shyt that has to be made with kids in mind like a good portion of MCU stans aren't middle aged.

If he's having a fire sale I wouldn't mind seeing what Marvel might do somewhere else.

I'm not talking about pudding fingers, he can go fukk himself...

I'm talking about the message pandering, lazy dumb shyt like token race swapping and awful written masculine female characters to appease Twitter feminist extremists...

Black Panther raked in over a billion and Wakanda Forever fell just shy of a billion...CLEARLY there is a market for content with ORIGINAL black character leads...The reason Disney chooses not to make a new original black princess is because they are CREATIVELY BANKRUPT, they don't have the creative talent on staff to write a new character and story and make it a success...This is why they choose to do remakes, the story is already written and these IPs have a fanbase already...They start adding "the message" into the story, piss off half that fanbase and call them racists, bigots, phobes, mysoginists etc...Its been the same fukking script for every Disney movie since The Last Jedi rinse and repeat...

This clearly isn't working yet they continue doing it...This is the central issue with their content and why Disney + is hurting, the content is trash...

Get out of politics, listen to the fanbase and get back to making quality entertainment for them, that's how you return to profitability...
.At this point the raceswaps are over tbh. No one is paying for that.
