I remember when D+ dropped, the main gripe from users was lack of new original content. That's why they started pumping out programming and going all in with it.I don't think Disney+ was a mistake but I think the way they ran it was. The initial reaction to Disney+ was "oh snap I can watch all the classics from my childhood." My mom signed up specifically to watch Lady & The Tramp lol. Add in the movies from later decades, Disney Channel shows etc etc and it's quite an impressive amount of content. There was no real need to spend insane amounts of money on any new shows, IMO. Sure Mandolarian made sense but virtually everything else? Ehhh.
I would have focused on Disney Channel type new shows for kids and teens, a couple MCU shows, one Star Wars show, and that's that. Let the rest of the catalog carry you. It's not like anyone has watched everything on there by now lol.
They have the most kid friendly content and has been that way since they dropped. Not sure what the direction is, but are they ever going to consolidate Hulu and D+ into one app?
