I don't think Disney+ was a mistake but I think the way they ran it was. The initial reaction to Disney+ was "oh snap I can watch all the classics from my childhood." My mom signed up specifically to watch Lady & The Tramp lol. Add in the movies from later decades, Disney Channel shows etc etc and it's quite an impressive amount of content. There was no real need to spend insane amounts of money on any new shows, IMO. Sure Mandolarian made sense but virtually everything else? Ehhh.

I would have focused on Disney Channel type new shows for kids and teens, a couple MCU shows, one Star Wars show, and that's that. Let the rest of the catalog carry you. It's not like anyone has watched everything on there by now lol.
I remember when D+ dropped, the main gripe from users was lack of new original content. That's why they started pumping out programming and going all in with it.

They have the most kid friendly content and has been that way since they dropped. Not sure what the direction is, but are they ever going to consolidate Hulu and D+ into one app?

You mean decent legs domestic. It's not doing shyt overseas. Movie is still sitting at $300M worldwide. It cost north of $200M+ to produce.
First original animated film of the year to gross over $100mil domestically and on track to hit $500mil+ worldwide after it drops in Japan. That’s a fine comeback.

What are you talking about? :mjlol:

What are YOU talking about? It cost over $200M to make and likely another $150M for advertising. It has to make probably north of $600M to even break even at the box office. And that's being generous.

We'll revisit this when all the numbers are in and I'm going to be right.

You're a fukking retard. The numbers are at $300M worldwide. Right now. Go check. Disney stans are insufferable. :mjlol:
I post in the box office thread almost every week. I know the numbers. I also know that the film hasn’t opened in Japan yet, and Japan loves those kind of films.

Pointing out something positive about one of their entries does not make me a “Disney stan”, so you need to cut it with that. I’ve actually been harsh on Elemental, Pixar as a whole lately, and haven’t even watched the film yet.

Is their rebound at the box office a groundbreaking success? No. Is it doing better than the dismal, low floor numbers it was projecting upon opening weekend? Absolutely, the holds are incredible. It’s now projected to earn around $450 - $500mil worldwide at the end of its run, which would have it sitting with respectable Pixar company and passing its break-even at $460m. Not as much “sky is falling” as you’re portraying it to be.

So you're already cutting your projection by $50M since we discussed this an hour ago? Lol. Whatever you say breh. I follow the box office too. This isn't doing $100M+ in Japan. I don't see that at all.

in the history of the company Disney always comes back stronger when they're going through a downturn
they did it in the '80s, 2000s, and they'll do it now:manny:
well. that was back when they created their own shyt instead of acquisitions. maybe after this they'll hire someone to build a theme park in Hawaii and make original films again. It aint even really the House of Mouse anymore

He got his work cut out for him because Marvel and the main animation unit have really been struggling lately.
