Why would he pretend to be weak? When he told Anakin that not only was he a force user but he was a force user so strong that he could help Anakin save padme from death. He just wanted Anakin to make a choice and prove himself. Mace was on borrowed time. Palpatine hopped up like nothing happened after Mace got flung into traffic

Mace wasnt anakin's test, but it was needed bring his heel turn full circle....palp underestimated mace, who was the strongest jedi besides yoda, he also mastered the most aggressive light saber fighting style.

Even anakin sinced palpatine's life force slipping away, remember he was begging mace not kill him but to arrest him so he could stand trail, anakin also pleads.."I need him alive"..to mace

Once mace confirms to anakin "he's too dangerous to leave alive"...anakin was faced with 2 choices: let mace kill palp=end the war, and the sith lord dies...or kill mace to save palp to save padame......

Once anakin made that choice he only joins palp not because he sincerely believes in the cause, or the dark side, it is strictly done to save padame, he knows he wrong, that's why he was crying to himself before obi-wan and padame arrived for the final showdown.

He wasnt equal too but hes the only one who had Palps pinned to the mat for the 3 count...

He was his equal. There's in movie evidence and a direct quote from the God.

In-movie evidence of equal standing:

at least on a standing in the Council Mace doesn't need Yoda's permission for anything. In each movie it's shown that they defer to each other. Episode I it's Mace who allows Qui-Gon to bring Anakin to the Council. Episode II it's Mace who decides to bring Jedi to Geonosis. Episode III it's Mace who decides to arrest Palpatine.

You could argue that they're on some Kobe/Shaq ish and they understand each other, but the point is that they're equals.

In movie power levels:

Anakin is the only one who talks about Jedi in terms of power levels (says a lot about him) but it again reveals that Yoda and Mace are a class apart.

"I am grateful to be his (Obi-Wan's) apprentice. He's as wise as Master Yoda, and as powerful as Master Windu".

Then later he says that he thinks he (Anakin) is already at Yoda's level of lightsaber combat.

Now he's not specifically saying that he thinks Mace is the more powerful one, but he uses them as avatars to big up Obi-Wan. So to him, Mace and Yoda are a class apart from the other Jedi.

God quote:

"You have to be either Mace or Yoda to compete with the Emperor," Lucas says. "If Anakin hadn't got all beat up, he could've beat the Emperor."

--George Lucas, The Making Of Revenge Of The Sith; page 204

Now I'll be the first to admit I'm a Mace stan, been wearing that badge since I was like 16 years old (Episode II came out a week before I turned 16); BUT the movies themselves simply show 0 evidence of him being inferior to Yoda or Palpatine; and multiple instances of him being their equal. The fact that George had to come out multiple times to cosign this shows the intent behind his character as well. And if you consider the George/Filoni Clone Wars cartoon, which is canon, he's damn near God level (the other Clone Wars cartoon had him even more powerful).

If anyone can show me anything canon that claims Mace is less than, I'm all ears :yeshrug:

So Disney needs to thread lightly when it comes to Mace. They don't have the best track record when it comes to POC in Star Wars.

EZRA comes from the Mace lineage as well. Which is dope (Yoda--> Mace --> Depa Billaba --> Kanan --> Ezra).

Yoda was the XO and Mace was captain in the command sphere.Which means he has power in the council but Yoda has final authority.I do think alotho Mace beat down Palps before Anakin showed up that Yoda is still stronger with the force...he just never had the advantageous position against the Emperor when he confronted him....The fact he was able to come out with a draw while having the lower ground tells you that...Every other Jedi would have been killed in the position Yoda was in inside Palps chambers.

So you guys want mace to come back, be bad and then die? I don’t really see the point in bringing him back.
