There's only one boss in the game through 3 chapters. At the end of each chapter it's the same exact boss.

One thing I like is the auto battle, auto repeat stage, and auto save. Makes grinding effortless.

They should have stuck with the HD sprites though.

They took out the team up attack animations. Unforgivable.
That’s because they hard to start from scratch with the 3D models. If they get to Disgaea 8 I expect it will be 100% back to where 5 was in terms of variety

Put about 15 hours into this. Despite the cutbacks it's still fun. The story beats are very similar to Disgaea 5.

I feel like this game is really the foundation for future games in the series. As such I like the art style a lot and 3D models look nice.

Yeah this is their Pokémon Sword and Shield. Much of the removed stuff will likely be added back in next game is NIS makes it that far. I know they’ve had issues.

Just started this up 30 minutes. Came in to complain about the performance. This runs like shyt in handheld mode, I've seen phone games with better graphics run better than this.

Yeah I don’t understand why it runs so bad. I’ve seen better looking Switch games run better on the hardware.

There's something about this game, besides the graphics and performance that just feels...jank.

From the leveling/numbers system, the reincarnation mechanic, all that, it just doesn't feel as refined as the older games.

Looks like Disgaea doesn't need Playstation after all

Disgaea's focus on "the road most niche"

While the first follow-ups didn't quite live up to that initial game's performance, Niikawa said Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten returned the series to that level of success, with Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance -- particularly the Switch release -- becoming "a huge success" in North America and Europe and Disgaea 6 on track to join the shortlist of most successful entries in the franchise.

That excerpt doesn't even imply this. 4 is still the most successful entry after the 1st one, and it was only on PS at the time. Five found success on the Switch in the US and EU but it wouldn't have become one of the higher selling entries without its PS4 release, which still sold well itself. And 6 released on the PS in Japan.
