This was posted on Era in response to the Phil Spencers interview about not being able to retain Bungie as an xbox exclusive studio.

Basically explains why Moon Studios instead of making Ori 3 or another game at Microsoft chose to go multiplatform, and thinks if phil was serious about his “everyone plays” message he would drop the microsoft exclusivity.

It’s also why both Ori games are on the switch because they had to fight and pay extra for it to happen

Dude is legit stupid.. There's a 30% fee for them to release games on another platform. Why would anyone do that when they can just buy your platform and eliminate that fee.. Using Bungie as an example was bad. Activision let them sell cross platform and still dropped Bungie..

You don't understand business. Activision dropped them. You think Activision letting someone they need buy their contract out? They seen them as a team that couldn't produce profit. You think they letting anyone else buy their contract out?

Bungie was owned by Microsoft n they bought themselves out under the condition they’d make 2 more Halo games(Halo 3:ODST n Halo:Reach).
Since Microsoft owned Bungie, they own n retain ownership of the Halo IP.

Activision never owned Bungie but entered a deal with them that theyd publish Destiny.

"We did not own the underlying Destiny IP, and we do for all of our other major franchises, which we think is not just a differentiator for us in the industry," he said. "But also controlling the underlying IP gives us the chance to move in with new experiences and new engagement models which also come with new revenue streams and, structurally, higher economics when you own the IP."

Also during the call, Johnson said Activision Blizzard wanted to break up with Bungie because the Destiny franchise was failing to meet its commercial projections. "Destiny is highly critically acclaimed, high quality content, but it was not meeting our financial expectations," he said.
