I said it@Deacon Frye This true breh?
To the left to the leftyou quoting a breh who said New Jack Swing was the WOAT.
I mean I get that people don't like Beyonce. She's far from my favorite. She's divisive talentwise. But to say that she doesn't have classics is straight up delusional.
wasn't "that's what friends are for" played at many u.s. school graduations in the 80s? that song was massive...

Outside of Guy, Keith Sweat, and BBD, etc. a lot of that late 80s early 90s era was trash. Did we forget Johnny Kemp, Father MC, MC Brains, and C+C Music Factory?
Most of that shyt was garbage which is why the great prophet Ice Cube once said on his classic album Death Certificate “you can new jack swing on my nuts”
I’m not taking anything away from Dionne. She’s a legend. But she has no where near the amount of classics that her peers did. She made music for the pop charts which is why when the R&B greats are listed she’s barely mentioned. And some of her most popular songs were remade by other artists who were betterDionne was one of the biggest female pop stars of the 1960s, and probably the first Black female pop star in music history, which was unheard of at the time. Her songs made a far bigger impact on pop culture during her era than Beyoncé's have on hers.
Beyoncé also didn't have anywhere near the same competition as Dionne, whose competition was made up of some of the greatest talents in music history. No one from Beyoncé's era can make that claim.
Dionne also had greater longevity than Beyoncé, considering she got her first hit record in 1963 at the age of 22 and was still getting Hot 100 number one hits as late as 1986 when she was 45! She's the second most charted female artist in history, only trailing Aretha Franklin. Beyoncé got her first hit record in 1998 with "No, No, No," when she sixteen, and hasn't had a major hit since 2013's "Drunk In Love" when she was 32. She hasn't had a major hit in six years(that Ed Sheeran song she jumped on for a cheap hit doesn't count).
Dionne has more classics and longevity than Beyoncé, and her songs made a bigger impact. Beyoncé benefits from her PR team shoving her down the public's throat daily on social media; she hasn't been a big deal musically in roughly a decade.
My pops hated that shyt. But he really liked D’Angelos first albumTruthfully a lot of “old heads” during that time didn’t really care for it.
