Respectfully disagree...B is an icon

Regardless of how you feel about her music she's a standout talent as Dione admitted. A star rated vocalist and a good dancer

She's been popping for 20 something years. The lead of one the biggest girl groups ever. And one of the most successful blk female artist to do it. Only Whitney, Mariah, aretha, rih have better or comparable numbers ...maybe Tina. But than again they have released more material and or have been around longer. Rih for ex released 8 solo albums and done way more features while B only 6

She's one of the most critically acclaimed artists

Today, for ex, there are college courses dedicated to discussing Lemonade, one of the best selling albums of 2016, and or her career. The last 3, 4 yrs her she selling out stadiums globally...

There's a church who have been holding services where they discuss her music

Grace Cathedral's Beyoncé Mass draws faithful crowd of 900-plus

And she's well on her way to becoming a legend

re·read what I said breh:comeon:

I know she been a star. I've pretty much watched her career since DC debuted in 1998.

I was talking about the "Fandom" " Beyhive Movement that started earlier this decade on Social media.

The Beyhive are the ones who have been overrating beyonce and pushing this nonsense about her being "The Greatest"
That wasn't in response to you :martin:

Here lies the problem with what you're saying--how did she amass that huge following on social media? You think millions of people suddenly respected Beyonce just because of people hyping her up? LOL. She had a huge following prior. All social media did was increase just like it would for anyone else.

The funny thing is she barely uses social media:pachaha:

4, DiL are close to classic ...many consider classic

She got great songs like Party, I Care, Love on Top, Dangerously in Love, MeMyself&I, End of Time, Why dont You Love Me, Flaws, Blow, All Night

Some songs I listen to on the reg

These are trash???

She has made some missteps...

But I really dont get the hate this woman receives. You dont like her music fine but nikkas be going they way to discredit her talent and impact. Like she cant sing now??? What? Lol comical

And rihanna makes better music??? What? Lol

Yeah, some of yall need to walk back the Beyoncé hatred. :mjlol:She's clearly an icon and will be remember as the face of her generation for pop/r&b. She's literally had a 20 year run of being at or near the top of her genre in an era where there are women that looked better, and some that sang better, but they all fell off. The next closest is Rihanna and even Rihanna is somewhat patterned after Beyoncé.

Dionne Warwick got the attention she wanted. Her speaking on this is just her keeping up the tradition of people like Aretha being in their feelings about younger female artists.

Y'all dont even listen to beyonces albums yet have the nerve to call her shyt trash

4 was an amazing R&B album and nobody appreciated it (Love on Top, I Care, Dance for You, Party, Countdown) were all on that album

Lemonade was a great body of work besides sorry/formation she had some intricate songs on there (Love Drought, Sandcastles, freedom, 6 inch, Don't hurt Yourself, pray you catch me)

Dangerously in Love, me myself and I, baby boy, Crazy in Love (which was named the song of the century) all were just from her debut solo project

Self titled literally changed the way albums are released to this day

Beyonce has a career span of 22 years. She has been through the 90's , the 2000's, the 2010's, and I can guarantee the 2020's as well with people consuming music in differently she still remains at the top.

I just don't understand why people (especially black people) want to try so hard to discredit her impact/legacy

Her catalog is there y'all just dont listen

It makes them feel edgy

Edgy why? Because they feel like she may surpass their faves? It’s another black woman making an impact. I’m not mad at that even though I still hold my faves in the realm they belong in. I don’t understand why people still keep bringing up Aaliyah. I liked her when she was here but I never saw her in the iconic realm. Her voice nor her music ever came close to that but I still remember her as a sweet person that does deserve acknowledgment but as far what could have been, honestly I doubt that she could have had the same accolades as Beyonce.

Beyonce is a phenomenal performer. She’s embodies the showmanship of black women from the past and even adds her own modern flavor to it.

I, personally, think she’s an icon and she should be revered as such.

Now is she the GOAT? Lol.... that conversation is not ready to be had yet.

I guess it’s odd to me to pick a specific period of time between two artist from different eras as a metric. Like what is the basis of that specific 20 years? So she was better at the start of her career? That’s an odd superlative and It’s strange in the world of music which is typically judge over a career but
:manny:

I was replying to another poster who claimed Dionne wasn't a major factor during her heyday, thus invalidating her opinion. I disputed that by showing that not only was she a major star, but that she made a far bigger musical impact than Beyoncé. I compared their impact over their first two decades as recording artists to make it a fair comparison for Beyoncé.

Dionne was one of the biggest female pop stars of the 1960s, and probably the first Black female pop star in music history, which was unheard of at the time. Her songs made a far bigger impact on pop culture during her era than Beyoncé's have on hers.

Beyoncé also didn't have anywhere near the same competition as Dionne, whose competition was made up of some of the greatest talents in music history. No one from Beyoncé's era can make that claim.

Dionne also had greater longevity than Beyoncé, considering she got her first hit record in 1963 at the age of 22 and was still getting Hot 100 number one hits as late as 1986 when she was 45! She's the second most charted female artist in history, only trailing Aretha Franklin. Beyoncé got her first hit record in 1998 with "No, No, No," when she sixteen, and hasn't had a major hit since 2013's "Drunk In Love" when she was 32. She hasn't had a major hit in six years(that Ed Sheeran song she jumped on for a cheap hit doesn't count).

Dionne has more classics and longevity than Beyoncé, and her songs made a bigger impact. Beyoncé benefits from her PR team shoving her down the public's throat daily on social media; she hasn't been a big deal musically in roughly a decade.

Breh you replied to really tried to say Dionne Warwick wasn't an icon in the 60's and 70's :wow: :mjlol:

That's like saying Lady Gaga and Rihanna weren't icons the last 10 years.

If she wasn't an icon during that time, then you might as well throw the term icon out the window or reset it's definition somehow.
