The problem with Warwicks position is that she's looking at it through the eyes of HER generation. The majority of Beyonce fans in 2019 do not relate to them. You play some classic Warwick songs for those fans today, and many will give you the . I understand where she's coming from, but it's really subjective. The fans are different. Lets be real...Bey has songs that would be considered more sophisticated and more comparable to a Warwick song, but that's not what the fans want overall.
But based on that logic she hasn’t been given a fair amount of time for subsequent generations to appreciate her work as you appreciate Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway.
