This is the coli. The love for Sam gives Vegeance it's edge..... And the fact McClane is just a regular Joe who can only do regular cop things like jumping on moving aubway trains and surviving 200 ft falls. Not like part 2 where he was a super cop doing the unrealistic :russ:

I get that, but still, the original might be the goat action film.

The only reason 2 isn't the worst of the franchise is because the 5th installment is one of the worst movies I've ever seen lol

I'm roll with 3 as my personal favorite of all the die hards, but 1 still holds the top spot in the series. If had to rank them i would go
1.Die Hard 1
2.Die Hard 3
3.Live Free and Die Hard
4.Die Hard 2
5.Die Harderd

This is my exact sentiment and rating. 3 is my personal favorite, but...

OG Die Hard will always be the goat die hard. I'm a big fan of 3 and I have love for 2 but as I've gotten older the movie didn't age as well but it still has the die hard feel. 4 and 5 feel like a totally different franchise.

My favorite scene in Vegeance is when he murks those dudes in the elevator. Damn shame we didn't get more classics from McTiernan after this flick. He had a good run but this was his last good movie.
Yeah that scene is dope, gets intense real quick; one second he asking about lotto numbers, the next second his face is covered in terrorist blood

The year 3030
Live Free being PG13 was some bullshyt and when Willis was doing press junkets saying it lived up to the OG despite being PG13 was :hhh:

when they dropped the unrated, it rectified the movie a bit (but some of the dialogue changes were ass), but shyt was too over the top...how in the hell is the guy who's afraid of flying jumping offa F15s like nothing, or how he made a car magically inclined into a helicopter

and 5 is straight :trash:

Have no real faith in 6...death wish was basically die hard 6

What was better about 1 than 3?

1 is better written and because it takes place in one location, there’s more suspense and the action is a little tighter. Also more character work with mcclane and holly and al. The third is dope but there’s really no arcs for anyone. Everyone is kinda at the same spot they were when it started.

What makes the first one possibly the greatest action flick of all time, is it combines the character shyt with the insane action that escalates. The set pieces start smaller and get bigger. Then you’ve got Alan rickman being possibly the best bad guy ever on screen. Jeremy irons is dope but he doesn’t do what rickman does. Not even close to it.

It invests in its characters so much and gives everyone dope moments, with Al possibly getting the best one at the end. Here’s this cop who has been demoted because he shot a kid. And now he’s afraid to pull his gun. But through the course of the night, he remembers he’s a cop and gets his courage back. Then manages to pull his gun and saves the life of the guy he’s bonded with over the radio. Right between the eyes too.

I don't think you have to ask that question unless you just think 3 is superior in every way which it's not. I have no problem with people saying they like 3 more but to act like 1 is beneath it is disrespectful since it's a nearly perfect film that birthed a whole genre.

Vengeance was the first Die Hard I ever seen and the quotables put it ahead of the OG by a small margin.

A lot of this seems to be preference over objective fact based on a certain criteria.

Nah its a valid straightforward question. If you dont have an answer other than "its perfect" thats fine.

Dude it’s film lol. It’s all preference. You can make an argument there’s objectively good storytelling but even that is preference and tradition.

There’s no mathematic equation for art and why something is better than the other. You make your argument as to why you believe what you believe and that’s that. Same with music or paintings or literature
