I can see why you'd be surprised by his meteoric rise if you were first introduced to Kevin Hart by wack ass Soul Plane. He was hilarious in Paper Soldiers, so from then I knew he had what it took to make it big.

He played the a$$hole in Paper Soldiers, but he's migrated to more self deprecating humor as he's gotten bigger so I find him less funny in that light. a$$hole Kev is hilarious

the thing is most people dont go to comedy clubs.....so most people wont know comedians until theyre on tv or in a movie....especially back in the early 2000s....
