Bah. We've all seen so much of the same thing in action movies. Writing was the issue. Just like scary movies....when was the LAST TIME any of you nyggas were really caught off guard in a movie? Quarantine was KIND OF WEIRD from certain angles but come on...there is NOTHING about a thriller that can get you in this day and age. It's all about watching that shyt to see what new pretty bytch is on the come up and how they're fukking before someone kills them in that car, camp out, or cabin. It's just how the gimmick works.

man, when those two were making those shytty kids movies, it left the door wide open for jason statham to take over as the #1 action star out there.

I'm glad vin and the rock decided to come back to where their bread is buttered, but those kid and family movies they did were god awful.

btw so was kindergarten cop too.

and bruce willis, he still around too. but he's a versatile enough actor where he can pretty much do any genre of movie these days. but its good to see john mcclain back and that the new movie is rated R like it should be.

Yeah I came in here to say Jason Statham came in and took pretty much every role that Vin and Rock should have taken. So all that "they dont make action movies anymore" shyt is BS. Statham been eating.

They definitely went the kiddie route too early. Schwarzenegger was well established when he did Kindergarden Cop, and even that movie had some action, remember the opening scene where he busts up in that party with a shotgun blowing folks away. That film had some very adult undertones.

that was a different time. if they were to release that movie now you can bet your ass it would be pg-13 and more kid friendly.

They did not drop the ball, the era of action films simply ended, Hollywood moved on to other genres

Jason Statham says otherwise

True he is doing his thing but I consider him a B level action hero star, Rock made the right decision by going with the safety of Disney, rather than making continuous B level action films as for Vin his buzz ended early

action genre is still present. Hollywood just went in a different direction when it came to casting the main star. No more muscle machismo actors. Instead, you got Matt Damons, Tom Cruises, Leo Dicaprio, etc.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ happened... why you think the expendables was just a big hit when critics killed it... because hollywood forgot about mindless murder, sex and violence... fukking horror movies come out PG13 now. so they can make more money. it was hard to put arnold in a kids movie when he just blew off 123 heads in the last movie and fukked 3 women... now he's wholesome all the sudden

these new guys don't want to get locked into one genre (except statham).. they want to make all the money they can and that's usually kids movies (they always sell).. then go make a semi "action" movie that's rated pg13. never going too far away from either side, you can do both

Rock took that easy paycheck because he knew he could easily ease back into action stuff one he fulfilled the Disney contract and that's proven to be true. All he has to do is show up a few wrestling PPVs to remind that audience that he's back. Vin actually thought he could be a real serious actor but didn't realize that no one wanted him to be that.

It's a different time. I know Faster is one of the rawest movies I've seen in recent memory. rock killed that movie. I think he only had like 5 lines throughout the whole thing. :russ:

Everyone keeps bringing up Jason but his action movies are basically "B-movie" Status. Arnold and Stallone were dropping Action Blockbusters for their time. Sure a lot of Jason's roles probably could of went to Vin or Rock but I don't think Jason is an Arnold/Stallone type DOMINATE action star. He's an action star no doubt though. The cool thing about Jason's career is he knows his lane. Even his new movie with J.Lo that just bombed, it doesn't matter cause Jason movies are all done on cheap budgets. As for Hollywood killing the Action Genre, that's not true, it just evolved to "Regular guy" characters as Action Stars instead of Larger than life figures like Sly and Arnold.
