check out kool mo dee talk about how militant conscious rap took off in the late 80's with no corporate push
But you won't hear these posters that are "deep in the streets" talk about this shyt. Sad that many oldheads never talk about this.

these "deep in the streets" posters that youre referring to are the main ones bringing this stuff up.
didnt you learn you lesson yesterday?
Well, they neutered the black power content in Hip Hop and made it self-destructive.
they who?

yup, they milked the gangsta thing as far as they could, they'll bring it back every now and then when they see the opportunity. now it's self-destructive ignorance. The record companies who brainwashed, invested, and gassed up the negative rappers into thinking that black power is "boring" when those same MCs came into the game and sonically pushed Hip Hop (De La Soul, Public Enemy). NWA post-Ice Cube is prime example of the caricatures being pushed and thinking that it's the norm.
But you have posters in here that swear up and down that black power is "lame" and not as good as their sweet, destructive music that is on their ears 24/7. I mean, at this point, people who think like that might as well join the KKK.yup, they milked the gangsta thing as far as they could, they'll bring it back every now and then when they see the opportunity. now it's self-destructive ignorance.
they would of loved Mac Dre
Even if people dont like their music they have to respect them, these are 2 rappers considered top 3 in terms of popularity among young fans of this era performing shyt like "Be Free" and Kendricks untitled song on national television. They are much better people to follow rather than the guys I followed growing up.. they have a chance to change the landscape of rap in terms of the type of content being made on a mainstream level. Just imagine if Drake see's them doing what they do then decides to get on his black empowerment shyt too

But I'm glad a thread like this exists in The Booth.
