Did Steven Seagal have the best movie run early in his acting career?

I was a huge Segal fan. I remember seeing Executive Decision in the theaters and being totally bamboozled when he died like 20 minutes in. :dwillhuh:

I fully expected him to pull a miraculous recovery and pop up to save Kurt Russell later in the film. I stayed until the credits started rolling and was :ohhh:

How u figure Akido is useless?? Police depts and military still use it in training and it's damn good for disarming any attacker from all angles

I should rephrase. Daps and resp for even discussing this btw.

I did Aikido for a long long time. I don't regret my time doing it, and it was fun. I don't want to call it useless. Even if it had zero practicality for actual fighting then I still believe it has merit if someone does it and enjoys it. I just think people should be careful getting into it in terms of expectations. Ut has a huge degree of cooperation in it which hindered me when I did Judo, BJJ, Sambo, MMA and other martial arts. Combat sports where the other person is not complying with me.

I think a lot of the footwork is cool and useful, as is a lot of the wrist and posture control. I think it's better to know anything than nothing. Catching punches and knives or weapons out of people's swinging arms is also almost impossible. And I also think that any type of training against someone that is actively trying to resist you and beat you using technique is much better for learning how to actually fight.

At the same time, I don't want to go too heavy down the self defense habit hole. The first 3 minutes and 15 seconds of this sum up entirely how I feel about "self defense" and martial arts. It's a great video and worth the watch.

Here's another video that's been making the rounds on the internet recently.

There's a guy named Roy Dean that was the first Aikido black belt to get his BJJ black belt and he has a lot of cool ideas on mixing the two.

I preferred van damme

Death warrant, lionheart, hard target ( my personal favorite ), time cop, sudden death
Rep, and dap.
Seagal was low key one of my idols growing up. Every fight I had I was trying to replicate them moves :heh:

that clothesline :noah:

Hell yeah lol. My cousin got into trouble for breaking some kid wrist like that.

Out for Justice is low key one of his best.
Agreed.

In before john cazale

Honestly, there are countless actors with better starts to their filmography than Segal....but Cazale is untouchable and the name I came in here to post.
Hold this dap and rep.....

That south park episode wax crazy. Didn't expect to have Seagal behaving like a punk on their lol.

Segal had some good ones in his prime mostly because he wasn't trying too hard

Yes sir.

Opening post reminds me about that Cracked article about how all of Seagal's movie titles have to be able to say 'Steven Seagal is...' in front of them. :russ:

Steven Seagal is... Above The Law
Steven Seagal is... Hard To Kill
Steven Seagal is... Marked For Death
Steven Seagal is... Out For Justice
Steven Seagal is... Under Siege
Dead lol
I like him but his run was overrated, IMO.

JCVD >>>>

Dude does like 2-3 movies a year still to this day though. I think the last movies I bothered with were Out for a Kill and Into the Sun.
Cobra Commander> JCVD. Lol. But yeah, after Glimmer Man I was like damn he getting fat.

Salute.
Yeah also had the best director out of his flicks too. Andrew Davis. He also did The Fugitive.

Granted he's done some shytty movies too but The Fugitive is classic and so is Under Siege.
You right, he damn sure did. Respect.

Lol breh.

82-89 sly was on a fukkin roll

It took Jason Statham to take Seagal's throne....:ehh:
Respect, salute.

Erika Eleniak

You win........Perfect

You not a 90s Kid if Segal's VHS didn't Go HAM in your crib:banderas:

...a Rasta Killa with Blue-Eyes and zero fukks to give; Marked for Death:lawd:

"Wat mi run fo, mi run fo nuthin," then Steven proceeds to break the Dread arm in half:dead:
Lol, screwface doing the voodoo and had the youth smoking dope.

First thing i thought of

Love the ol Will madtv skits

The Seagal joints with 3 syllables in the title were piff. :banderas:

'Marked For Death' is an unitentional classic for the following reasons:

Seagal speaking patois.
"Kill the Whiteboy Hatcher :birdman:"

Unwittingly calling US Customs out for being so :mjpls:they would allow someone to enter the country with a Rastaman's severed head in their carry on luggage.

Patrice said it best though

"Casey fukking Ryback?!?! He trains the people, that train people who train people! He trains the trainers!" :russ:

Rip Patrice. Even he knew Seagal was the man. Salute

Dead lol
Prime Scott Hall....kool. and I liked His role in Machete
