I noticed that Goku vs Vegeta 1 was the most violent fight in DBZ
with more hand to hand combat than Ki beams

-Goku punches Vegeta so hard he coughs up blood

-Vegeta crushes Gokus leg when he turns to an ape, then begins torturing him by crushing his whole body in front of his son

-Vegeta headbutts 5 year old Gohan so hard he leaves a large bloody forehead on him

-Vegeta tortures Goku again in front of his son by kicking his incapacitated body repeatedly and laughing about it.

Yajirobe got the shyt beat outta him

Krillin had a broken arm and coughing out blood

everyone was a bloody mess

the network probably told Toriyama :whoa: tone that shyt down

I’ve been hearing that term power scaling a lot lately. What exactly is that the term for?

Power scaling is basically measuring a characters power by comparing them to other characters power levels at certain times during a series. And he's right, the power scaling is absolutely ridiculous when you look back at it

Goku and Piccolo were the strongest characters at the start of DBZ and could barely beat Raditz together. Raditz was then said to have the same strength as a mere Saibamen. As you remember Krillin took out four Saibamen at once. For reference, in a year's time Krillin went from being weaker than Goku and Piccolo and getting slapped around by Raditz's tail to being able obliterate Raditz with one attack

Meanwhile Goku went from not even being able to take on Raditz to making sport of Nappa and even besting Vegeta (with the help of kaioken) in just one year. Don't even get me started on how absurd the power scaling was on Namek

I've rematched DBZ so many times I can't count but I thought it would be interesting to talk about some of the opinions you had on characters after your first run of the entire series compared to the second or third times you watched it.

For example after a few times watching DBZ again I've noticed:

  • I can't blame Gohan for going soft after the Cell Saga. I always hated him as a character but after a few rematches I became objective and realized this dude was kidnapped at like 4 by his uncle and then watch him kill his father right in front of him :gucci: Then proceeds to get kidnapped by a person he's never met before and forced to train for people who are coming to kill him and everyone in his family.
  • This kid goes to Namek and gets his neck broken only for his pops to come in at the last minute like ":mjlit:"
  • To make a long story short he was thrown into circumstances he has no control over ever sense he was a toddler. The most fearsome villain they've ever faced is finally gone and he just starting to become a preteen. He wanted to relax.
I have more but I'm waiting for more post before I waste my time and this thread flops :mjcry:
Bruh gohan is supposed to be a sayian destroying planets he should atleast be training to be stronger than his dad

Perfect Cell, nikka had the most swag of any DBZ villain. Hijacking the news to shoot wwe style promos for a tournament he threw to relieve his boredom and test his power:wow: making them Cell jrs to fight the z fighters was the personification of “Yall only get half a bar, fukk y’all nikkas”:wow:

Krillin got gored, Gohan spent a while getting beat on, Vegeta spent an entire episode getting strangled and punched while spitting up blood. I mean even a kid got blown up. It ended with the bad guy getting sliced into bits and begging for his life. If it was less violent, the difference was marginal at best :heh:

Looking back to keep in character with this thread, I think that might’ve been the beat fight. It was physical with a ton of striking on both ends, both sides hurt each other bad with big moves, all fighters fought to exhaustion to the point they can’t even complete attacks, the bad guy held the edge but not to the point that some of the good guys fighting were borderline useless, it didn’t run some 25 episodes (it ran 5-6), and seeing the bad guy keep coming back to fight some more after the beam struggle, his tail being cut off, surviving the spirit bomb, and even still surviving being crushed at the end was some :damn: type of shyt to see. Him telling them they’re idiots for letting him go and that he’s gonna come back and choke the life from them when his ship is leaving was some truly :demonic: shyt.

Pretty much and it only gets worse as Goku and Vegeta are above God in terms of strength now

So to see Goku struggle vs. lowly henchmen jobbers is insane

Edit: Nappa vs. the Z warriors and VIdel vs. that one majin guy >>>> in terms of violence iMO both were :picard: to watch

So canon episode is the one I watch right

Yeah. The ones in red may have some entertainment value, but a lot of the material isn’t all that relevant to the main story. The filler episodes up through episode 50 really were the worst filler and 108-117 especially are not relevant.

The brilliance of Cell only made me find Majin Buu even more annoying.

Why?

This nikka is technically biracial:mjpls:

With all the chaos that led up to the Cell Saga there was nothing more that Gohan wanted than to just live a regular ass life.

Goku didn't know shyt about living a regular life as a kid so him just chilling inside a house with his grandfather dead and nobody to take care of him seemed normal to him.

And in reality that's not too far for from the life he would've lived if he were raised with the saiyans.

Gohan was exposed to what a normal human life was supposed to be like then suddenly all of that is stripped away from him at age 4.
