Did anyone have a better run in a year than Shawn Michaels in 1996?

Hbk was all they had cuz he made it that way undercutting and killing everybody's else pushes

He was suppose to lose to Vader at SS but cried till he got it changed

Than mankind so he could lose it to Taker but cried again

Than tried his best to sabotage Sid

In many ways it was the worst year any top guy ever had for that company

He left it in complete shambles until Bret came back and saved the company getting Austin over.....something shawn would of never done at that point
:wow:

He great in the ring but his character was complete trash in 1996. An utter failure.

Wrestling nerds might've cared but the mainstream audience didn't give a fukk. Hence Sid getting cheered over him in MSG.

His heel stuff in 97 was top notch but he was an embarrassment as a baby face.

the heartbreak kid character was always better suited as a heel, pure and simple. as a babyface he's just another clean cut good guy with no intensity.

He's a much better heel because he's a massive dikk irl, so it just comes natural, keep in mind Michaels is my all time favorite. GOAT HEEL

As far as workrate he did have two classics with Nash than Mankind

His series with bulldog was garbage I like both guys but never could watch there matches

His match with Vader was suppose to be like the Cena/lesner match but shawn was not having that

It pretty much killed Vader as a main eventer

1997 shawn thou might be the greatest heel ever mostly cuz he was such a scumbag in real life he didn't have to act

ratings dont matter, they only started winning because of other shyt. HBK was literally all WWF had, and he carried them pretty well with what they had, if it was just Bret, or just anyone else shyt would've been way worse. HBK carried that shyt with dope PPV matches and everything else. And WWE had better/equal PPV numbers and house show gates but whatever :yeshrug:
Ratings don't matter?:russ:

Not for the point I'm trying to make. He kept WWF afloat by himself with great matches and programs vs whoever they threw at him.

Mankind vs HBK at Mind Games :whew:
They were on the verge of bankruptcy while he was champ so that makes no sense, the reason they didn't fold had more to do with Stone Cold & Bret Hart having one of the greatest feuds of all time.

he had a hell of a year in 96. Hard to argue...considering his workrate
he won the royal rumble for the 2nd year in a row.
won the WWF championship for the first time...against one of the greatest...in one of the greatest matches of all time...at Wrestlemania
5 star match w/ Diesel at Good Friends Better Enemies
Had a good fued with Bulldog...great match at KOTR
Great match with Owen
Classic Fued with Vader..great match at Summerslam
Spectacular match with Mankind and Mindgames.
Awesome Fued with Psycho Sid

I'd say you'd have to make a case for Ric Flair in 89 though...Had game changing fueds with Sting, Ricky The Dragon Steamboat and Terry Funk...Meltzer gave him four 5 Star matches....could've very easily been 5-6
