Did anyone have a better run in a year than Shawn Michaels in 1996?

You can throw all that critieria in as well and Shawn in 96 was basically nobody compared to the Rock in 2000 or Austin in 98. Are u kidding, man? and Hall was BLOWING Michaels away on the mic in 96...wtf:laugh:

:dahell: I'd put up any Rock main event match in 2000 vs anything Michaels did in 1996 in terms of quality match

you trippin now lol

I'm a huge Rock fan probably my second or third favorite but he is not known for his match quality. Not saying he was trash but he's not touching HBK in the ring but I'll accept an argument on the other stuff.

Rock vs Cripple H Iron Man is better than any Michaels match in 96 easily....as was Rock vs Benoit at Fully Loaded 2000. Shawn Michaels in 96 is forgotten entity in history except when fans laughed him out of the arena at Survivor Series 96 against a thought of inferior worker:laugh:

Everytime Shawn gets dismantled for being a loser in 96, they try to run to the match quality thing and he doesn't have one legit legendary match in that run that anyone gives a fukk about in 2015. The screwjob in 97 is basically what he was known for..a freak show incident. A situation that revolved around lying to get a man out of his top spot:laugh:

and I don't want to turn this thread into one of THOSE threads...but go back and watch the PPVS from 96 and then go watch the ones from 2000

I personally think Michaels had MORE classic matches on his 2nd go around than his 1st

nah 96 matches are crazy. You should really go back, his matches with Vader, Diesel, Bulldog :banderas: Even on RAW he had a classic with new rockers jannety, nobody was pulling 4+ star matches down like HBK in 96. I agree Rock was better on the mic in 2000 (but who was as good as rock in 2000 on the mic), but the matches nah. The ironman match was great, but a lot of outside factors contributed to it, but HBK's ironman match was better :manny:

OP may be on to something. Michaels in 1996 kept the WWF afloat until Austin, Rock, Mankind and the rest could get going. He was a bytch backstage but he tore it up in the ring.

for real, if it was ANYBODY else carrying the company back then it would've been trash. HBK really kept it up while they were developing the younger dudes and phasing out the older ones. Classics on classics, great programs, really one of the few bright spots of the WWF at the time. He didn't have much to work with, he was like Iverson in 01

I was kinda thinking the same thing as far as the second part of his career. I still haven't seen everything though going back on the network on stuff I missed.
