Did anybody else NOT grow up with comic books?

I probably would have liked to have been a comic head when I was a kid, but I had no gateway to it. No comic book stores in my neighboorhood than I knew of. No older figure comic head to introduce me to them. None of my friends had any to show me when I came over to play. All of my interests, looking back on it, were heavily influenced by either my neighboorhood, my older brothers/uncles/dad's interests, or my friends hobbies. So if anyone would have been a comic fan, I'm sure I would have latched on to it.

Instead, I became a hip hop head and a sports junkie since that's what the people around me were into.

When X-Men #1 re-launch came out in '91 it was a huge deal with all the variant covers. As I kid I was thinking it was gonna get me paid years later like a Michael Jordan rookie card. Instead, today I can't even get $15 on Ebay for the complete set :flabbynsick:

Yeah man, they got me to. When T. McFarlane launched his own Spiderman title with Marvel they came out with like 3 different covers for that to. I thought I would bank! Oops!
