What do you mean?
Wrong the songs itself may no longer have a new york sound but the lyrics them selves talk about alot NY shyt.
Yep! You have a generation of 90's babies learning Hip Hop from college courses too, then they get out and get positions in the game. Once you factor in the internet you can see why Hip Hop has turned into this weird beast we see now.I think the direction rap has taken in the past couple of years has more to do with the people behind the scenes than fans. This is the era where publications like the Source and XXL hold no weight. It's now about Vice, noisey, complex, etc... and just from what I've observed here being in NYC the people behind the scenes AREN'T hip-hop heads. They're hipsters and rap tourists. But now they're the tastemakers and the people putting these cats on cause they can promote them on their blogs. Most of these cats are white transplants, asians, and gays. A good portion of them are women too. They promote rappers they can relate to...probably the reason why you never see them champion or promote any street rappers. Look at the whole Drake vs Meek situation...who do you think those types were on the side of? Definitely not Meek. Drake is one of their poster boys.
as well, going back to what you was saying about fashionistas and stuff infiltrating the rap industry...I agree. The rappers nowadays that get the most props seem to be more savvy with the hypebeast/KTT/tumblr/instagram crowd than anybody else. That's who's dictating the direction of rap right now...I hate to say it.
I feel I gotta reemphasize and post this again, cause you nikkas may of missed it the first time
ARE YA SEEING THIS shyt
@Pier7 nothing will be a lower point for NY rap history than "Chicken Noodle Soup". Real talk, there were actually bigging up that fukking garbage as some real NY hip-hop that needed to be supporte back when it came out. Even posters on SOHH were making excuses for that shyt with the c00n dance attached to it ("aww they just having fun""they kids, leave em alone" "this good for NY hip-hop"). It doesn't get any more embarassing than that.
fukk DJ webstar by the way.
dude is the fruity O's to future's fruit loops
nikka is bagged cereal yo
Can't really tell the difference with the Young Thugs and em tbh
I, really don't know how y'all trying to even attempt to front on this record.
This shyt is as heavy sonically as coco was and it sounds like it came from the same producer, too.
Now, it is blatant biting and unmistakeable in your actual Gen to your fav artist.
Now, nikkaz trying to deflect and say oh I gotta issue with that.
like they some cultural bboys and were never in the culture of hiphop.
Yet, when it comes to their artist, of their gen,...now, wanna pose cultural based questions and issues.
While excusing every issue and questions before it was their favorite artist.
Y'all did the same shyt to rich homie quan and before he became gay with rich gang.
then tried to front about being gay with young thug.
Y'all accepted that shyt cause y'all definitely dissed shyt the future diss to him originally.
Till, the strip club made it tolerable from overplaying and brainwashing you via oversaturation of playlist.

Yo....you New York nikkas have lost this hiphop shyt and you are never getting it back.
