Alonzo being murdered was kinda forced though. The way the Russians easily found him while driving in the street is hard to do in LA. Vince Vaughn in True Detective got found the same way. I'm like I could see him getting merked right there in the Jungles right after he did the "I'm King Kong" speech though.

For those who don't know Alonzo and the whole premise to TD was based on a cop named Rafael Perez from the LAPD Rampart division ....aka the most notorious band of gangstas with badges known for doin extortion, hits, robberies u name it they done it ..think some of 'em including the cop who killed Biggie did security for Death Row

Would've been interesting to see him get shot up but survive. At the end, his fate is not 100% determined, though it's assumed he died. In the sequel, he's recovering in the medical ward in prison, he's got connections inside and is rebuilding. He's determined to run things on the inside and get revenge on EH character on the outside (not necessary directly, but people. including criminals and an dirty cop who hasn't yet been identified, who he sends at EH).

Training Day is based on Rafael Perez and the notorious Rampart Division but TD season 2 is based on Robert Rizzo and the Bell,CA(LA suburb) scandal where these small town city officials were making more money a year than the president of the United States.

This, especially the bolded. It's what makes films so predictable anymore and full of tropes. It really says something about how pathetic people are in that Hollywood has to cater to people's fragile sensibilities. Good guy wins in the end and all is well in the world. That's not always reality though. In fact I'm fairly certain life is quite the opposite in most cases. To be honest, this film is still classic to me, but this news causes it to lose some points IMO. For as gutsy as it is, both Denzel and Fuqua failed to cross the finish line by changing the ending so as not to damage Americans' fragile sensibilities.

This is true when comparing movies back in the day to now and also when the villain is black. Black folks always feel that their movies have to have a social message.

Where as white folks have no problem with their murderous villians/or heros doing all sorts of dirt and pay no consequences.

Take the god father trilogy for example how the villain / hero gets to live and die at an old age like his daddy.
