Alonzo Harris got away with a lot. Even in real life he would get clapped. There is only so much evil and risk you can take before the consequence catch up to you. Harris did too many dirty thing and screwed too many people. He was playing Russian roulette with his life.
I ain't even gonna ask you how :banderas:

I actually would have preferred he lived, getting clapped at the end to just "appease" the audience is a the classic weak shyt Hollywood does. The real scumbags of the earth don't always pay the price, many get away with it and live a happy life. Also, LOL @ nikkas actually thinking he was even 1% a good guy in that flick, dude had not values or morals

This, especially the bolded. It's what makes films so predictable anymore and full of tropes. It really says something about how pathetic people are in that Hollywood has to cater to people's fragile sensibilities. Good guy wins in the end and all is well in the world. That's not always reality though. In fact I'm fairly certain life is quite the opposite in most cases. To be honest, this film is still classic to me, but this news causes it to lose some points IMO. For as gutsy as it is, both Denzel and Fuqua failed to cross the finish line by changing the ending so as not to damage Americans' fragile sensibilities.

They never get away with it...but waiting on Alonzo to catch cancer or shoot an unarmed black teen years later would have been a boring as fukk way to exhibit life's karma...they figure thrill em' wit bullets:smugfavre:

I think him not dying woulda been a bit more realistic, being that cops get away with shady shyt often

Agree.

I wish I didn't know this now, because I think it would've been better if he got away.

...and then after the credits, they do a scene where he goes to pay the russians
and they do him anyway even after he pays them - 'cause you don't wack made niccas.

Alonzo being murdered was kinda forced though. The way the Russians easily found him while driving in the street is hard to do in LA. Vince Vaughn in True Detective got found the same way. I'm like:mindblown: I could see him getting merked right there in the Jungles right after he did the "I'm King Kong" speech though.
It wasn't random. They all knew where the drop off was suppose to be and was probably only one way there.
