I just got finishing watching it and it was clearly one of the best performances of his career. It's easily one of the deepest characters he's ever done. I was so mad at him as the movie went on and I kept hoping he would get better but he just got worst. The ending was powerful. Daniel Day went in but Denzel hit your emotions with this performance. I think what Daniel Day did was harder becoming Lincoln so I won't be mad if he wins but If I had to pick, I think Denzel gave the performance of the year.

Safe House was good but sadly after the success of "Training Day" they did kind of typecast Denzel in these "Mentor" type roles. "Safe House" is basically training day in the CIA but it was still good, Denzel only plays the bad guy but so much so it's an interesting part for him.

His character in Flight is so hard to root for.

He was just BAD!!!

Amazing performance from him though.
