:francis: So many great concepts can be made but they choose the same shyt over and over again.

has anyone fukked up their payday worse than this? I guess Dipo right now actually and Nerlens few years back?

Cousins wanted out of Sacramento :francis:

You're right, he was supposed to get 5 year $209 million extension, but they traded him because he was a complete dikkhead.

It was the 2 year $40 million from Pelicans that he rejected.

At least Cousins and Oladipo crapping out was mostly due to injuries, which is the obvious big risk you take when you bet on yourself. If they’d stayed healthy they both probably get what they wanted.

Schroeder on the other hand is completely due to him being delusional about his own value. Dennis Schroeder isn’t worth $100+ million with $100 million in his pocket.

Oladipo should've taken the offer considering his injury risk.

When Noel was on the sixers we said he needed to be traded because you don't pay your backup center max money. That was the general feel before he went to Dallas. Dallas offered him 70M. He rejected it the offer and then they blackballed him refusing him minutes and even Mavs fans claimed it was great because 'minutes should go to players who want to be here'. He never got an opportunity to bet on himself because of Carlisle.

Schroder thought he had the Lakers in the palm on his hand. Their cap situation wouldn't get them an upgrade over schroder and he had a great season in OKC. But then after trade deadline his play diminished, he refused the vaccine, snitched on LeBron, contracted covid before the playoffs and stunk it up in round 1. And then no one could predict the Westbrook trade.

All this is to say there are a lot of factors that go into a player betting on themselves and even more if they actually succeed.

This is a clear case of overvaluing yourself to the point that you are now struggling to get a deal. Dennis should have leapt at the chance to sign that contract when he had the chance. He's a high level role player who gets traded every other year it seems. How much did he really think he was worth on the open market?

He made the mistake of not only playing poorly in a contract year, but also being completely unlikable. This is the result of that. He'll either humble himself or his prideful delusion will continue to get in his own way and he'll be playing overseas.

I won’t say he played horrible but he was definitely unlikeable starting with the he had to start stuff (which of course he should think) and than I’m not mad at him fit trying to bet on himself but this dude was definitely humbled.
