@agraybee
There was evidence that RCV lowers turnout before, but it was ignored. Voters don't like to put any thought into voting, and they'll skip it if it requires thinking.

[Quoted tweet]
RCV is something I've changed my mind on as the results have come back. I used to be mildly (not fervently pro) and I'm now I'm mildly anti

@CoKeynesian
The problem isn't RCV per se but bad ballot design.

Compare ballots from Portland with Australia and you see the problem.

Do you have any idea how many Americans would think you give 6 to your first choice.

@CoKeynesian
Are American voters really that dumb?

@milkman772
The Australian one doesn’t look like it’s machine readable

You know how they say Joe Biden never misses any opportunity to fukk up a good thing. Dems seem to have been following that mantra for 16 years. I hope this "unforced error" era of the Dems has finally come to an end.

@KyleKulinski
Kamala DIDN'T MENTION:
- race
- gender
- trans people
- pronouns
- latinx
- cancel culture
- political correctness

and she DID MENTION:
- patriotism
- freedom
- owning a gun
- representing all Americans
- cracking down on the border

Anybody who tells you she was 'too woke' is just fukking lying to you and caving in to bullshyt far-right framing.

Donald Trump won by talking about Arnold Palmer's cock, Hannibal Lecter and immigrants eating cats and dogs. The idea that you just have to cave to Republicans on more issues to win is insane. Try actually standing for something and being relentless about it.

People may not want to hear this

But try dumbing down your talk and everyday language and rejecting acronyms and verbs that people don't use in their everyday lives.

Perfect example

- we produced more electricity gas and oil than any time in our country's history. They never once mentioned this. Because they're too concerned with pissing off environmental activists.

-instead of framing yourself as pro green and pro electric. Just state you're anti-pollution and dirty water and dirty air.

- stop being so scared when YOU WIN. As soon as Republicans get SC picks they go to taxes. They keep their foot on the gas.
When the Dems do something great (like Obamacare) they say "that's enough big bills now" and retreat.

- stop reacting to every offensive thing Trump says if somebody puts a microphone in your face just say I'm focused on policy and move on. Appealing to their "disgust" ain't happening. This means stop talking to MSNBC and The View every time he says something offensive

There is research published on this topic, but it is purposely ignored by people who simply do not want their class interests threatened

[Quoted tweet]
Democrats love to act like Republicans, lose, then conclude that the problem is that they’re still not enough like Republicans.

I don't understand the thought process that goes in to some of the posts in here, it's like there is no room for nuanced thinking at all. It's as if there are only two options, either that something fits exactly to the ideology of the left or it is a complete failure. Is there any middle ground for outcomes that are not perfect but could have been worse? Can we at least admit that better is a preferable outcome to worse, or are is the dogma so strong that if something isn't perfectly to our liking, then it is a complete failure?

I have no love for Joe Manchin or Kirsten Sinema.

But which world is better, one in which none of the Dem agenda gets passed at all, or one in which some of it gets passed?

Ask the seniors who will have more affordable prescription drugs through Medicare over the next couple of years, or the citizens who will have access to more afgordable insulin. What do you think they'll say?

Which world is better? One in which the federal judiciary is stacked predominantly by Trump appointees from the Federalist society, or one in which more liberal judges with diverse backgrounds (including criminal defense attorneys) have also been appointed to counteract the right wing's focus on the judiciary?
You are in HL 2024. These people lost the gift of nuance years ago, if they ever had it.

Yall trying to solve problems the actual party doesn't care to solve. They want to win doing what they're doing now. They don't want to change shyt. The objective isn't to win as much as it's to raise money. They'll take losing and raising obscene amounts of money over winning and having to abandon their donors agenda thus lowering the money they can raise.

Democrats also in order to win back men have to show they do normal things.

It sounds corny but Trump at UFC amongst regular beer drinking and obscene folks is a huge image selling point. And the fact that people are out of shape have balding and acting like a fool and not being called out for it makes his appeal even better. Everyday people say dumb, racist and sexist shyt and folks love that he says "fukk it" and let's them. We laugh and call it a freak show they call that Monday. Think of Gronk basically.

Whether folks want to admit it or not Democrats come across as that chick in the Dr Dre video that got sprayed with beer and shyt at the end because she acted like she was too cool to be in the environment she was in.

Basically Democrats come across this tree-hugging coffee sipping electric car driving bougie people. Eating ribs with a fork and knives.

Democrats telling people they can't have a certain flavored soda with a certain sugar level or need to drink non plastic straws only enflames folks further. These folks want fat back bacon grease, with grits and two coffees.

Average American is fat out of shape and does not care an ounce about their diet or the gym. Democrats come off as judgmental unfortunately and saying that you need to do certain things, eat certain ways, drive certain types of vehicles or else you're bad for the environment.

And whether you like it or not that represents Gavin Newsom in a nutshell.

"Meanwhile in any other rational country in the world, she is still right of center"

I hate when people say this. There is no developed country where Kamala or mainline Democrats would be "center-right". That BS rhetoric needs to stop.

You're not familiar with politics in the rest of the developed world then :unimpressed:

The "socialist" Bernie Sanders is your regular degular center left politician in Europe. And there is a chasm between his platform and the platform of mainstream Democrats, which was dragged right by Bill Clinton in the 90s and has remained there with minor iterations by Obama.

In what other developed nation is a gun toting, war hawk, corporatist, tough on crime, anti immigration not right of center? You have to name that developed nation too.

She is to the right of Emmanuel Macron.
