I see what you're saying, not sure I agree. I think Bill Gates finding Paul Allen, or rather, those two kids being in the same place, at the same time, at a certain point in history, isn't likely to happen period. Take race out of it, not many people are that obsessed and that ambitious, nevermind the fact that they complimented each other. Not sure if you've read Innovators by Walter Issacson, but there is a chapter in there about how those two got together and the work they did. Honestly, Bill ended up shorting Paul because he couldn't trust him (Paul tried to remove Bill from a project in order to get more computer time, he ended up later needing Bill and Bill was able to set the tone of their future relationship and business dealings).

Either way, I think ambitious blacks actually have an advantage because once they are put in a certain environment, they are identified and held up as these wonderful beacons of equality. It's all a show, but it can be used to your advantage if done right. It's also easier to spot ambitious black folks when you get around them. They all sort of stand out, they all sort of tend to be hustlers, coming in with the same mindset.
Odd you bring Paul Allen up in this thread. I was a huge tech nerd during my teenage years and used to brag about how I was going to start a company in Silicon Valley. I used to watch "Triumph of the Nerds" and go insane.
One of the reasons I don't really deal with my mom is she used to always talk shyt about my ambition (getting back to the point of this thread). Like, "that's for them white folks" and "you can't go out there and do anything." Now tech is huge, and I feel like I've wasted so much time not believing in myself.
