This isn't even the craziest thing they did this summer. They traded the 11th pick for cap space and protected future 1st

Yeah and they went and got a better version of Sexton who wasn't able to work with Garland because they are both ball dominant and short. He also took two of the better outside shooters in Ochai and Lauri. So now you got two ball dominant guys playing around a bunch of centers… it’s a Ainge special.
Listen man seems like you’re trying to convince yourself of something :mjlol:

Mitchell and Sexton shouldn’t be compared full stop.

Garland and Sexton also didn’t get a chance to play last season because Sexton got hurt. They went 7-4 together.

All this talk about “gimmick” big man frontcourts and small backcourts it’s all cliche. They was a playoff team and dressed 26 guys and their defense was elite. Teams like the Cavs are the future. They will continue to improve.

Knicks fans continue to overrate their young players
What else is new? :heh:
Keep waiting for RJ to magically transform into a franchise player while picking in the bottom of the lottery

I'm not even a huge Mitchell fan but the idea that IQ, Toppin and Grimes are all going to magically turn into All-Stars is laughable. Landry Fields and Iman Shumpert syndrome

Brunson and Mitchell would have been no different when people were complaining about the Marbury years of guards killing us despite Starbury putting up over 20 and 8 assists per game. I never blame Dolan or Isiah for Marbury because he was who fans and the media were demanding for years.

youre right. So even though we have potential 3 picks in 23, we can’t trade our 23 pick?
If I'm not mistaken, we can trade our '23 pick because we drafted Ousmane Dieng and made the official trade after the draft. But in terms of whether or not protected picks count, they don't until they are officially conveying. As long as there are protections on a pick, it doesn't help you move picks in the following year. The caveat is that you can negotiate a deal with the other team so that they remove protections on the selection.

I think that's why they set the arbitrary RJ Barrett deadline and floated him in offers to begin with. They knew Ainge wasn't serious and just wanted to try and find a greater fool to pony up more.

I think they knew the deal was done though. Woj reported it that way but other reporters went with the other narrative about it could still happen. Also I agree Ainge play style is reflected in his GM style and it’s aggressive.
