I think you're bugging if healthy they can stand with the top teams in the East. None of this changes my opinions on Mitchell he's dumb nice, this is a significant upgrade for them.
They aint better than the Heat, Nets, Celtics, Philly, and Bucks. Ya'll don't want to hear it right now but Atlanta, the Raptors, and yes even the knicks might give them that work too. They aren't designed well, have a short back court with two very ball dominant players, and run a gimmick FC of three centers.

Ainge just pulled an Ainge on them.

So? That would be great in year one.

Some think Mobley is a future MVP level player. Perennial playoff runs and contention are in their future.

Knicks have a 35-40 win team on their hands with no signs of improvement coming.
I think Mobley is a future MVP candidate, but this trade wasn't for Mobley,

I thought it was when 2022-2023 season ends.
Pretty sure it’s at the beginning of the season. It’s about protecting future picks. What’s the difference between trading your 23 pick in September vs on draft night?

I think the rule is that you are not allowed to trade consecutive picks in the same season. Could be wrong. I thought it was the Cavs rule.

This isn't even the craziest thing they did this summer. They traded the 11th pick for cap space and protected future 1st

Right it was for Mitchell which is only beneficial for Mobley moving forward.
Yeah and they went and got a better version of Sexton who wasn't able to work with Garland because they are both ball dominant and short. He also took two of the better outside shooters in Ochai and Lauri. So now you got two ball dominant guys playing around a bunch of centers… it’s a Ainge special.

The teams that have made the crazy "take all of my picks fukk it" type trades this offseason were playoff teams already. The Knicks have been premature dumping assets without a clear vision for two decades.

Just dump Randle. Stay the course with IQ, Grimes, RJ, Obi, Mitch, Sims, Rokas, and the gang of picks for now. If Brunson comes in and the team moves up the ladder, then they'll have everything they need to swing a deal for the disgruntled star of the hour. If he doesn't...it's a good year to be in the lottery anyway.

The difference between the treadmill and rebuilding is lack of flexibility. The Knicks haven't traded in their flexibility yet. I have a good feeling about the trade deadline because of how stacked this draft class is about to be. I think there will be some sellers by January and the asking prices won't be Danny Ainge levels of extreme...hopefully the fits will make more sense too.

I think the only way it works is to use the pick and then trade the player on draft night. Then you circumvent the rules about not making a first-round selection in consecutive drafts.
