How so?

And he turned into Tyson Chandler anyway.
He did not turn into Tyson Chandler. They amnestied him into Tyson Chandler. If they don’t sign him and keep Gallo whose cap hold was essentially the same. Then they could have let Gallo Walk and signed Tyson.

We didn’t give it all. The Melo trade was fair.

Giving up Gallo, Chandler, Felton, Mozgov, two firsts and a second for Melo, Billups, AC, Balkman, Williams is a fair trade. We got the two best players in this deal in Melo and Billups.

Ainge ain’t getting 4-5 players and 5-8 picks :birdman:

Trading three (or four if you're being generous :lolbron: ) starters and multiple lottery picks including a future all-star is not a fair trade. Billups was not useful after he got injured during the Celtics series.

How so?

And he turned into Tyson Chandler anyway.

Billups had a $14 million team option that Grunwald picked up, but immediately amnestied him after to sign Chandler. Beyond idiotic

It was two firsts and one second nowadays teams are asking for 3-5 firsts and pick swaps and shyt. :russell:

Those guys were decent players nothing more, nothing less. Gallo and Chandler went on to become injury prone players missing entire seasons and shyt.

The Billups injury is not something that we foresaw he was an ironman most of his career.

It was a bad trade…. By the time they were done they had no cap room, no trade assets, and they ended up wasting Melo's prime

If we can get two firsts from the Lakers I’d do this. Ship Westbrooks ass out of here with the quickness.

So the knicks are going to go into the season with Brunson, Mitchell, and Westbrook?:comeon:

They'd very likely buy out or stretch Westbrook

The problem with the Melo trade was that they promised to pick up Billups' option and then used the amnesty on it for Chandler. The trade itself was fine value-wise and has always been a bit overblown. It's fair to wonder if they had to do the deal in the first place though...they coulda tried waiting and if the Nets got Melo then Deron Williams woulda fallen into their laps likely for less then they gave in the Melo deal.

But the Melo deal itself was never the problem IMO. It's everything else they did after.

Why, why, why would the Lakers do this though? Trade an expiring contract for an even worse one? :stopitslime:
Like it makes no sense
Doesn't AD want to play the 4? So where does Randle even fit?

I want Obi to play, but Thibs will bury his ass behind Randle. Let's be real
My man how did Grimes suddenly lap Quickley and Toppin as prospects makes no sense.

Those two killed SL last year as well looked a cut above the competition.
