but referee is a DIFFICULT job. suppose Pascal had hurt Kovalev just before he caught that last 2-piece? the ref undoubtedly wouldve let it continue....that wouldnt change the fact that Pascal legs were like oodles of noodles. the ref stopped the fight because Pascal wasnt firing back more than anything else.
Kovalev backed off because he knew Pascal was gonna try and land one of those haymakers. Kovalev aint stupid. Pascal was still dangerous....even though he was on his way to getting KTFO. Kovalev did the right thing. The ref used his best judgement and because Pascal didnt shoot anything back....he stopped it. I can see where Pascal couldve been allowed another few seconds but the stoppage was not controversial at all. Pascal argued it because he knew he was gonna try and throw another shot. The ref doesnt know how hurt a fighter actually is so it was best to err on the side of caution.
HBO needs to have USS back on. Fox, Spike, likewise. Thats the very least you can do for the guy after watching him get fukked over and over on your networks. Cunningham has been jerked so bad because he is not a big name or puncher. I remember when they set him up to go to germany and lose his title against Huck and USS KTFO his azz.

kovalev is pretty skilled, his power and brute just overshadows it all.

exactly and he's going to have to stay in line with kovalev's domination by being the first man to stop bika..anything less than a domination wont be a good look for him

he is really skilled. still his stalking can backfire on him. he is who he is though. he fights smart most of the time too. thats why we need that
fight so we can sort out who the best really is.still the future is bright for Kovalev. he can fight Stevenson, rematch Pascal in Montreal again, etc....

I dont think so. These guys are at the top level. I dont see this fight being a one punch KO but rather somebody being stopped. it took a lot more than one punch to get Pascal out of there. I dont think Kovalev is gonna be one-punching guys at the top level. very hard to do unless a guy is known to have a glass jaw.
