Michigan driver's can't drive for shyt tho.
I'm conflicted.
That’s funny I feel the opposite. Once I started spending most my time on the West Coast I really missed Michigan drivers. Drivers have no sense of awareness out west. A car is damn near an extra appendage in Michigan.

Turns out....cars are dangerous and places with less of them have fewer fatalities.

It tends to be hard to get into a head-on collision on a train.

:sas1:

Yeah but who wants to ride on a stinky train with loud mouth people coughing and sneezing?

That's been my experience on the train....almost never.

But let's say that does happen. Just for the sake of the conversation....

I'd rather deal with a smelly passenger for a couple of minutes than....die.

What's your probability of dying in a car crash? How many close calls have you had?

Car crashes cause thousands of deaths each year in the United States. In 2022 alone, 42,795 people died in motor vehicle accidents nationwide. Road traffic injuries are the leading cause of death for children and young adults aged 5–29.

The lifetime odds of dying in a crash for a person born in 2021 are 1 in 93.

You are very safe in trains and planes if you compare it to the odds of dying in a car crash. 1/1,187,241 in America for a train crash

I suppose it's just a coincidence that the places with public transit (Chicago, NYC, DMV, Philly, Jersey, Boston, San Fran) are all conspicuously missing from the OP.

And they just happen to have better train and bus systems than the rest of the country.

:jbhmm:
The whole country should have train systems.

Why didn't you answer my question? How many accidents and close calls have you had in your 15+ years of driving?

I didn't answer your question because it's a stupid question.

Any ONE person's experience is statistically meaningless and anecdotal.

It's like asking a drug user "how many times have you overdosed?" in response to a comment about the dangers of drug use.

I'm not going to entertain your nonsense.
