Watching that clip, seeing the father post the fit and showing the price...lot of young kids got the odds stacked against them gawd damn!
wym what are we going to do about it? What CAN we do about it?And what are BLACK MEN going to do about it?
Y’all understand that mainstream images (e.g. HIPHOP) perpetuate negative images of young Black men and influence how others see y’all, but DONT want to acknowledge that those same images obviously influence young girls who are watching the same media, and young Black boys who are also watching it (“it’s only music!”).
Well- this is what we get. These little black boys playing out the shyt that is rapped about in music and encouraged by the grown men in the streets.
If Black folks don’t get ahold of the “culture” and the “community” more of these kids will be gunned down by law enforcement or citizens and NO ONE will care.
this capitalistic critique isn't working.wym what are we going to do about it? What CAN we do about it?
Yall gotta understand that is as much a class issue as anything. The Black men who have the means and education to help are largely not gonna be in the hood. Outside of being black (which compared to other ethnic identies, doesnt mean a lot) i largely have very little in common with the men who perpetuate violent crimes. I and a milion other black men could go on some anti hip hop, anti streets, stop the violence crusade and it would largely fall on deaf ears.
Too many black folks have had too long of prolonged exposure to poverty and dysfunction and cannot get out of their own way.
And the issue with American black culture is that it was largely shaped by oppression via white supremaciy within in a capitalistic, individualistic framework. In contrast to other cultures, American Black folks have very few tools/social constructs to encourage collectivist thinking. The shared bond of trauma via White Supremacy is what keeps the little community we have together but it isnt enough to forge forward. Look at Jews, Nigerians, East Asians, and increasingly Latins. In addition to language, tribes, religion, cultural customs and personality traits, they unite and push as a community because they have a shared vision of where they want to go as a community. Until black folks have that, we cannot unite outside of our income brackets.
WTF?this capitalistic critique isn't working.
And you advancing it is weak.
I see where you're coming from, but you all have to stop trying to put these crimes into nice, neat, convenient boxes like "non-violent property crime."I'm not going to argue that this kid was an angel, but I just dont believe in in murdering ppl for non violent offenses
I dont believe in the idea of ppl policing the streets like this.
I'm very sure that the sentence for very basic crimes like theft under $500 like this, are not the death sentence
A grown man playing Batman murdered a child. Yeah the kid seemed like a shyt disturber, but maybe he could have changed his ways. Maybe not, but the punishment doesn't fit the crime
My cousin just told me one of her close friends is Karon's cousin's. Apparently him being out there at that time of night is the norm. The reason the child was in the streets was because he was following in his dad's footsteps who runs the streets. The dad is or was on drugs and isn't right in the head.
Here's his dad on IG live. His dad is the dark skin one with the beard
I'm tired of nikkas using capitalism as some panaceaWTF?
do you have a fukkin batsignal that goes off when ever slightly Leftist rhetoric is mentioned in TLR you centrist shill?
fukk outta here with caping for that short sighted bullshyt. Rampant capitalism is literally destroying the planet. Any good capitalism accomplishes as a system is quickly offset once you realize these faggits are literally delaying and/or SABOTAGING the progress of humanity in order to make a profit.
You digust me with your pandering to Neo Liberals who would happily have you killed or deported back to Mumbai just to win a single "moderate" vote. Take this neg with you on your way to kiss Copmala and Joes boots.
Karon never had a chance. Look at his dad bragging about the fit and cost of his son's funeral outfit. This young boy never had a chance. Probably trying to follow in his fathers footsteps. "$1800 for the fit, Ya'll know I how I'm coming"...... That line pisses me off so bad.
I was holding off from posting this. But Denzel was speaking straight facts. It’s starts at home. His parents failed him, especially his father. If his father wasn’t living his second childhood. Or still trying to be a real nikka. His son would have been in the bed. Not wondering the streets at 3am. Lil breh had no chance smh.
Apparently Ant Glizzy got into it with the kids dad.
Neither just don’t steal shyt

Very well said.wym what are we going to do about it? What CAN we do about it?
