Not saying it's right or wrong, but we'll kill you for stealing in Louisiana. My cousin got shot 5x for stealing some dogs back home. If you own someone land snooping or trying to steal something. That owner might come out and blast you no talking.

A lot of people have grownup poor and struggled decades to get their home and cars, any violations of that is risky business. I don't know how it went down in this case.

Well to be totally fair breh, the main imagery that the world sees of young black males is that of thugs, shooters, drugdealers and gangbangers.

I mean, here's an extremely popular song that plays on mainstream radio. The song is called "super gremlin" , you may have heard it b4:

^^^^^^. This song currently sits at 244 million views, a song about a young black male singing about jacking cars.

The world has literally been conditioned and programmed to view black people (young black boys specifically) as menaces to society.

So yes, it's EXTREMELY easy to convince the average person that a young black boy was up to no good. A black males DEFAULT SETTING to society is that of a reckless and dangerous thug.

:snoop: It’s sad just how shytty black men, and women’s image is. The black men/women is repeatedly represented. By the most dysfunctional degenerates in our community. People really underestimates just how influential a piece of media is.

Above the fray.
I’m not mad at the homeowner and i feel like the community should have been more active to prevent this from happening instead of being reactive.
There is nothing that the community could have done to prevent the circumstances that lead to the deadly confrontation.

Social services safety nets and resources exist in that community for families. And activists and politicians are constantly agitating for more funding and resources.

That's not going to prevent every teen from making bad decisions.

We have no excuse at this point to be underestimating it but you're right, far too many of us do.

all these issues arise from wealth and income inequality. kids are working because there parents/guardians can't earn enough or just out of work. little to no job opportunities for young adults too. :francis:

For whatever reason many of these kids did not finish HS. Not a life ender but that puts you in a predicament. You don't have the formal education for more than entry level jobs.
A lot of these guys are squeegeeing because it's easy and fast money. Working a formal job requires following rules, showing up on time, etc. A lot of the guys out there don't want to be in a structured environment. They want to do what they want, when they want. We got to take the poverty excuses off the table.

What are we to do with people who don't want to finish school and don't want to start at the bottom at a 9-5?

poverty isn't an excuse, it literally forms the basis for a lot of inattentive children who are malnourished, stressed and unable to concentrate in any structured learning environment.

They just broke into 40 cars at a warehouse in my city

Dozens of cars broken into outside Sysco warehouse

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A rash of car break-ins was reported overnight at a warehouse in Southeast Memphis.

On Monday night, thieves targeted the food distribution company Sysco on BF Goodrich Boulevard near Lamar.

A worker tells us around 40 cars were broken into, all belonging to employees.

Police say the suspect got away with several guns, wallets, and an iPhone 13 mini.

The parking lot is surrounded by a chain link fence but part of the fence had been cut away and there were tire marks where someone appeared to have driven through the open fence.

Employees say this is the second time in recent weeks that cars in the parking lot have been broken into.

There appears to have been a security guard present. WREG crews saw a pickup truck with flashing lights on top and the decal Phelps security on the side.

A Sysco representative said the company is looking into additional security options. Their statement is below:

“The safety and security of Sysco colleagues is a critical priority and it’s important that our employees feel safe coming to work. We’re aware of the increase in crime near our property that is affecting the businesses community generally in the local area. We have security personnel on site and fencing around our property to safeguard our employees and Sysco assets and are evaluating additional options to protect Sysco colleagues, including working with local enforcement.”
Car burglaries are an ongoing epidemic in Memphis. Police say the thieves are looking for guns, and in 1 in 4 break-ins, they find one.

Those same people that took time out their day to protest the killing of the kid should have had the same energy to
Protest crime in their community that cost this kid his life.

Who is we? Your parents are responsible for instilling a work ethic, and proper values. If you don’t want to work, you are not going to survive. And if you turn to crime, then you’re going to end up in prison, or killed. So I have no empathy for people who would rather risk their lives, and hurt others, because they don’t want to work their way up like the rest of us. My parents drilled it in our heads as soon as we could understand that we had to make something of ourselves.

We are literally the only group of people who feels responsible for those of us who put no effort into life.

I don’t think protesting is going to stop the crime, but they wouldn’t be doing it if it wasn’t so socially acceptable in our communities. Like I keep saying, the boy was in the midst of a crime. This is not Trayvon, or Tamir. A lot of these boys aren’t just doing this to survive. They think this is exciting. They look at boys who read books, and call them corny. And any time a successful black man speaks up, he gets called a c00n. Folks want their hand held, and expect someone to knock on their door, and hand them the jobs. That is not how it works in any other community.

Look at the threads claiming Biden does nothing for black people. We post about grants, and programs, and brehs complain that it’s “minority”, not just black, as if we aren’t eligible. Even if it was just black, you still have to FILL OUT THE FORMS, AND APPLY.
