I don't believe anything any of these directors say. David Ayer swore up and down that the Suicide Squad cut people saw in theaters was the only one. Now he's begging WB to release the Ayer cut :russ:

An "Ayer Cut" or whatever they wanna call it is probably somewhat real as there's scenes that were deemed "too violent" that never made the PG-13 theater cut and really a lot of the tone seemed altered... you go and watch the 1st teaser and the tone is damn near all serious and dramatic

Whether that means the movie would have been better or not... can't say. Ayer didn't wanna throw those execs under the bus at the time but i guess cause they out the paint now he wanna chime in.

Here's the 1st teaser for those who can't remember

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
I think this is more than about money... i think gunn could have took the synderverse and streamlined it INSTEAD of erasing it and starting over... this is about EGO and control... tbh... as a writer he didnt need to destroy the previous work just build upon it, make it better...:francis:
Nah fam.. They should have BEEN started this over.

To build a connected universe, you need to build from the ground up. Not have 3-4 batman's in movies, another 2-3 in tv, and another 2 in other movies. They had a Joker movie, joker in matt reeves and a joker 2... and I'm guessing a joker in matt reeves part two too.. At the same time you got an old bats in Snyderverse. Old as hell Supes. WW84 pretty much ended WW's chapter. Nobody cares about the rest of the JL.. Nobody definitely cares about anybody else from DC. Shazaam ALMOST had one. Rock ALMOST had one. But they can't even agree to be in the same movie. Imagine Tom and Tom said they REFUSE to do SpiderMan and Venom. Or better yet Tom Hardy refused to do his after credit scene so he could build the Venomverse.

shyt was in shambles. They will now do what they should have always done. Swallowed their pride, put their ego aside, and copied Marvel's playbook. Give everyone their own stories. Build up a love for fresh young-ish characters, with 10-movie deals, and milk them for at least 6-7-8 movies before they even bother to team up or see each other. Have fans that span a decade, and 5-6 different characters, before you get them all together for the team up shyt. Then break back apart......

Man y'all know the formula. They never had to copy the plots. Or make it campy. Or copy any other aspect of it. But trying to build one movie universe with constant change, isn't the way. Start fresh, slow the fukk down (how you got a JL movie within 3 movies?) and add your spin on it.

This is the way.

People really think we still want a 70s Christopher reeve superman. :francis:
Got that with Superman Returns already. Its corny, plus he is way too powerful to have zero character flaws, makes his stories boring.

Ayer did come out and said he fukked up not making the villain a more grounded one.

It's clearly the best supes film breh. Never even got a true sequel.
Some people refuse to let comicbook characters carry a more serious tone. The see the word "comic" and think archie comics and kids stuff.
But the DC comics just as often have mature tones as light ones. Its not just something you only do for batman. The rest of it doesn't need to be campy like suicide squad to compensate.

You dudes need to kill this either/or angle with Reeve's movies

How about just having a Superman that doesn't:

act petty and destroy someone's livelihood over getting a drink thrown on him
act like he's cleaning the gutters and the bathroom when saving and helping people
act more like Batman than Superman
lack humanity, inspiration, and hope
have Christ/God narratives
have an adoptive dad that thinks that Clark letting his classmates drown in a bus is a viable option
have an adoptive mom that basically says "maybe you don't owe these motherfukkers anything"
constantly have self-doubt
adapt The Dark Knight Returns and Death of Superman in his 2nd appearance

See this is what i mean, pretty much criticized ever single character flaw. But flaws are what make him relatable and human.
If you want him to just be a benevolent perfect God. Then the only challenges he will face in the movies are someone finding a piece of kryptonite. over and over

How is him destroying that dude truck any different than reeves superman going back to get revenge on dude after he had his powers back lol

I didn’t mind him not being a boy scout it made sense for him to be somewhat conflicted

Comic book readers, I have seen some people saying the Superman comic is at an all time low sales wise and the popularity of the character as well. Like Ghostrider and Daredevil are more popular can you confirm, deny offer your editorial please?
It might just be too late for this character. He is too simple for our times and in comparison to all the other heroes out here. This project can be doomed before it starts because interest in Superman is just low.
