They should've just made him gay. He's "bi" but all we see him doing chasing men. And he's constantly into gay social justice. Plus society is less accepting of bi men compared to bi women and/or gay men. I remember the Authority doing pretty well back in the day and they basically had a gay Superman and a gay Batman in the group. Nobody was even offended. People are going to say homophobia, but it was really messing with an established character.

The funniest thing about all this is the character is actually getting a retitled book. The gay Superman is not getting cancelled or shelved, he actually getting a bigger push. 
Because the gays are louder and more represented then they actually have numbers. They created a discrepancy in terms of public perception vs reality. Like another poster said most people wouldn't care if it was a character that happened to be gay vs a gay character. There's a subtle difference. They are too heavy handed with the shyt. Making dude a gay environmentalist sounds like they were hitting for all the liberal principles in an overbearing way. The pandering is too much.
