Man… here’s my honest review.

Dave has become everything I feared he would become: a lecturer without the comedy.

I smiled and chuckled at some parts but I had no real laugh out loud moments. It felt like a TeD Talk with anecdotal stories. He spent the last 30 mins on trans. I mean God damn, let it go already. Talk about overkill. It would’ve been fine if this was his first time addressing them but this is like the third special in a row.

Chappelle has become a real life Coli poster. The only time I hear about these trehs are on here. Outside of that, I rarely hear about them. Now Chappelle seems to have a weird fetish over them.

I really tried to enjoy this. If this was anyone but Chappelle, I would’ve switched off after 30 minutes. Please stop with this “he’s transcended comedy.” Wtf? Last time I checked a comedian is meant to be funny. Whether it’s one liners or story telling, the goal is to be funny.

You can be political, socially conscious, philosophical etc and still be funny. This special wasn’t it. Just ranting and ranting about gays and trans… AGAIN!

Sorry, Dave needs to go back to the drawing board. Too many specials in such a short amount of time has made him stale and predictable.

At least he said this will be his last special for a while and he’ll stop beating a dead horse. Hopefully he comes back inspired and back to funny Dave.
the guy can talk about 1000 topics.

but he flooded my ears with his THIRD stand up show devoted to defending himself against chix with dix.

who

fukkin

Center self, inner self
Those last 30 mins were incredible.

Dave Chappelle is the GOAT. There is no better storyteller in modern day comedy and he’s more than a match for legends like Murphy and Prior.
No he is not. I hate people who prematurely use that term, especially when it's not true. He's a good comedian; i'll leave it at that.

Nah, nikka clearly thinking what a lot of people don't have the balls to say. "Should I cater to your delusion" That's fukked up. I was visiting my GP one day and out walks this 6'4" 240 linebacker looking motherfukker talking about transitioning. Scratch that. The day before I went to get an Aids test on GP. I don't have fukking aids, but you never know, guess who testing me a nikka that went to school with my sister dressed like a bytch. I ain't sweat it, but gotdamn if we can't call a spade a spade fukk is we doing here. This ain't no nikkas commit crime ergo all nikkas is criminals shyt. Because that shyt isn't true. But you mean to tell me that nikkas who think they are women is SANE. LGBT is some bullshyt because they let the T joint and fukk up they shyt. I don't think anyone who post here doesn't think well some people might be gay. But when you start bringing up ridiculous shyt. cmon man.
bruh, he was on stage for 80 minutes. HALF of that was about chix with dix.

at most we needed 15 mins.

I think you’re reading it wrong. That whole special was about how LGTB is punching down on black people, women and society in general. That’s why he said he was negotiating the baby’s release. And called himself a feminist.

He told vicious jokes about all groups but the only ones who will actively cancel him are LGTB. He’s not worried about Space Jews.

The only part I didn’t like was how he tried to use his trans friend as a shield. The equivalent of an accused racist saying they have one black friend.

It’s very revealing how sensitive the world has become over the last 20 years. In a couple years this special might be completely pulled like all of Louis CK’s work, but for different historical reasons.
He's spent an exorbitant amount of time on them in his last 4 specials.

I get it. They are a powerful lobbying group.

But I'd think Dave Chappelle at 50 would be on a George Carlin esque route if he's gonna go full preach.
That "I have a Trans friend in San Fran" bit sums up new Chappelle, he's out of touch.

A I say it's very hard to "critique" Dave coz even when at his worst, there's shades of genius in everything he does.
Those "movie ideas" of his had me rolling... SPACE JEWS.:mjlol:

If you were lucky enough to catch him during his wilderness years 2008-2012 when he really didn't give fukkk, you'd understand what I mean. I've followed Dave a long time, I know when he's tapped in.
Patrice O'Neal used to talk about how an older black man (himself included) gets tired of fighting the system. They're just beaten down after a while, battle fatigue.

Dave put up a hella fight in his prime, now he must enjoy his millions with his Asian wife and call it quits.

All of you complaining about the length at which he touches upon the gay/trans agenda have to view it within the greater context of how black America has been cast aside for non-black “minority” interests that are then used to regulate our freedom of expression and association in contemporary society. These aren’t so minor as to make one or two brief mentions before moving on. They are very real threats to the agency of black people in this country.

And, notice how it isn’t Trump or the alt-right doing this.

Missed the point again. It was about privilege. Dave said it out loud. It was never about the alphabet people. "It was the whites". He said as soon as Blacks were making a point and had the white cornered, they changed their genders. LOLLLL That's fukking funnnny.
That was the funniest he's said in all his Netflix specials.

I know it's about exposing that the LGBTQ movement and feminism are just front movements for white people to socially engineer things without being called racist. I understand all that.

All I can say is watch the execution and nuance on Killin Them Softly (from relationships to police brutality) and compare it to his recent stuff.

Its just like Patrice O'Neal, his execution on Elephant in the room is what made it Top 5 greatest comedy specials of all time.

So this is purely subjective… There is no comic greater than Richard Pryor and he never stopped being funny, or started putting jokes on the back burner. He did “Live at the Sunset Strip” after going to Africa and having an epiphany of sorts. That special was still funny.

Rich couldn't stop being funny if he tried lol, that's not the point I was getting at.

When you have mastered the craft to an extent, showing up and getting people to chuckle or even laugh out loud isn't the challenge anymore. The court jester was one of the few people who could criticize the king and the nobles without getting his head lopped off, because it was understood that he was there to point out absurdities and speak for the commoners perspective. So there is a deeper responsibility for a comic than just making people laugh. You have the cover to be brave and speak on the behalf of the unheard. You don't ever stop being funny , you just understand your purpose beyond being a fukking clown.
