Ill just do a top 5 since I still haven't seen many, including a few (Selma, GBH, Boyhood & Birdman) that are supposed to be some of the best movies of the year but still, my voice shall be heard on the coli
1. Whiplash
2. 22 Jump Street
3. John Wick
4. The Imitation Game
5. Fury
as for the worst...theory of everything...eddie redmayne's performance was pretty amazing but the subject matter of the movie just didn't do it for me, just a depressing ass movie. This dude is still living and somehow enjoying life the movie should have found a way to get that across better. Instead they have his creeper "caretaker" gaming his wife and a barely looked at second marriage of Stephen to some chick. Just a dreary, never ending nightmare of a movie.
Note: I didn't include ANY documentaries in this list. Don't like comparing docs to narrative films. Too distinctly different types of entertainment.

And rounding out that list, the WORST five movies I watched this year.

Lucy - see my thread.
Sabotage - What in the fukk? This is the guy who made Fury?
3 Days To Kill - There are no words.
Transformers 4 - Laminated statutory rape card.
And of those 98 movies, I saw 82 of them in the theater

It's a weird one to rank, especially since I basically included two films as one (The "Him" and "Her" versions). I haven't seen "Them" yet, will probably wait until I pick up the blu to dive into that one.
I tried to avoid movies that I knew were gonna be bad so I didn't see a ton of bad ones...
Monuments Men
Sabatoge
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit
Overrated film of the year:
Tie between Captain America and Guardians of the Galaxy
Underrated film of the year:
Noah
What I still need to see that could be good:
Selma
Starred Up
Two Days, One Night
Mr. Turner
Frank
Top 5
The Immigrant
Night Moves
The Double
The Theory of Everything
Wild
Dear White People
Kill the Messenger
Maps to the Stars
Get on Up
That seems like a lot but I'm currently at 50 2014 movies so far...
